Why the hell are Port asking for Murphy? They've already got Thurstans, you wouldn't think they'd need another tall full-forward?

Anyway, Murphy/Dunn for Josh Carr was the offer I heard on the news.

Murphy and Dunn?
I wouldnt want to trade Murphy I think hes got a big future ahead of him. Freo recruiting staff saw something in him no one else did much like McPhee and I dont want this one to go.
Dunn well I havent seen much of him seems like there very similar players.
I say Simmonds to sydney and organise some kind of 3 way trade, picks included somewhere there of course.

Give em Dunn, was recruited in the hope he would become J.Carr. Seems pretty fair.

Murphy they can keep their hands off. Strong Marking leading forwards don't come around that often. Lets just hope he takes the next step and becomes great.

Then we can grab Hadley from brisbane and bob's your uncle. Midfield settles, KPs settle. All is looking good.

I heard they were being "linked to Port" (thru the Sunday Mail here, who knows where they heard it) not that Port had asked for them.

Thurstans is really a tall defender being played forward.

So without getting into toing and froing about who's worth what, what's the lowdown on Dunn and Murphy?

It's that easy is it? ;)

Any possibility that Polak will be traded for Carr?
We definitely want Carr to stay, but if he is going to go i would think Polak would be one of the few players that port would be interested in, seeing that replacing wakelin and Bishop and the next couple of years is a priority.

Polak, I don't think so.

I had a look at Ports ruck division, as this is one area where I feel they may need some revitalisation in the coming year. Maybe Snake could be put up as a bargaining chip?.

If the Eagles and the Crows can't do a satisfactory trade for Stenglein, we may be second choice, if Stenglein's number 1 priority is to return to the Perth area. Which team he plays for is his second priority.

We will just have to wait and see what the number crunchers come up with.

Murphy is extremely impressive and I can't see him being traded, even to get J.Carr (although this would be somewhat of a risk on our part, considering Carr is proven and Murphy is still an unknown quantity) He only played just over half the season as a forward in the WAFL and notched up over 40 goals, very good lead/mark and straight kick.

Dunn comes highly regarded, seems like a hard player which we need, and has a penetrating kick, but was injured last season and hasn't really had a chance to prove himself. I would think the dockers would jump at the opportunity to get Carr for Dunn, as Dunn has the potential to become as good as Carr, but as i mentioned before, Carr is proven and seeing they play the same position, it would be far less risky than trading Murphy. I would assume at least a second round pick would have to accompany him though.

I think Murphy kicked his 50th goal in the 1st semi last week. I would also hope that Murphy is placed "off-limits". Personally i would be prepared for the powers that be to let Dunn go. Dunn + pick for Carr would work as far as I'm concerned. We could get another 6-8 years out of Carr - and who could guarantee us that from Dunn, being a Vic? I know Murphy is a Vic also, but being a KPP, I think it's worth the risk of hanging onto him.

Having said that, I doubt that after drafting a young kid from Victoria, the club would be willing to shift him off to SA without giving him the opportunity to prove himself over a couple of seasons.

I seriously think that a third club will need to get involved and it will somehow involve sending Simmonds and/or Walker home to Victoria.

If Dunn is tradeable this gets simpler on the old homesick players basis.

Josh Carr from Port to Freo
Scott Thompson for Melbourne to Port
Ryley Dunn from Freo to Melbourne

and something else to Port (maybe also to Melbourne, I dunno)

If something like that was going to go through I would prefer to keep Dunn and trade Simmo instead.

Something like:
Josh Carr from Port to Freo.
Scott Thompson from Melbourne and Freo's second round pick to Port.
Troy Simmonds from Freo and Ports original second round pick to Melbourne.

The problems with that though are:
- I think Port would want more than Thompson and an upgraded second roung pick for Carr.
- I don't think Melbourne would take Simmonds back

Melbourne will simply not get Farmer, due to $$$. Simmonds is unneccesary, as we already have three good ruckmen on our list. Hyporthesising about him going to Melbourne is a waste of time. You can have Armstrong and Carroll for a 2nd round pick.

Didn't think either of Dunn or Murphy could be traded after their 1st year, unless their are exceptional circumstances.

Why would Dunn accept Port as his destination given he's homesick from vic. Seems a little odd.

Thompson (a former avid Port supporter) wants out of MFC and back to SA. Maybe a three way deal? It would mean sending someone that the Dees want to them, to get Thompson back to SA and Josh back to Freo.

A couple of Vics may be made available to secure Carr... Siegert (some trade value) and Thornton possibly ( :( looks the goods, but may be worth giving up to get Carr... although he would probably "do a McPhee" on us...), Edgecumb (little trade value if any), possibly Jimmy Walker (the quiet achiever). There's also Troy Simmonds, but can't see him heading back to MFC. All of these would involve draft picks also I would think.

Apparently Macca isn't happy with the deal he's been offered at Freo and there's a rumour that he could go to the Weagles! I serioulsy doubt it, but just for the hell of it what do you guys reckon we'd get for him? Judd? ;)

Macca wouldn't get a game at the eagles, they have too much midfield depth. What we'd get for him? a pick probably, want we'd want as a replacement? a younger midfield type I guess.

Hard to see Macca playing anywhere else..
