That exactly where I think we need to go. It aligns the interest of the business with employees by offering equity.

It also makes tax evasion and transfer pricing harder with eyes and ears on the ground.

so you want the workers to own the means of production. how is this not just not classic marxism?

Call me a socialist but it works really well in industries like IT and resources. Tailored, it would work in any industry.

Link employers to the performance (satisfaction, standard of living, education of children) of employees.

Too complex. People in power too self-centered.

Use the tax system?

The tax system has its limitations as the current mindset by many is to focus on taxing income. We have broadened our thinking over the last 20 years with the taxation of consumption and raising income tax free thresholds to become more efficient.

but we still fail to address two key issues:
1) the increasing concentration of wealth; and
2) alignment of interest between employees and employers

The first is easy to remedy but needs an international co-operative by western nations where wealth is taxed. We should punish wealth creation (income), rather we should punish the hoarding and storage of wealth.

So yes we should continue to play with taxes but it isn't the full solution.

By offering equity to employees, employees interests are aligned closer to management. This increases productivity and increases overall return to workers (20% to 200% effective bonuses).
