Lol, only club to not do anything, receive anything, give away anything. How odd when people were calling for us to be big players this trade period. :o

haha Oh well.

Still wouldnt rule out McLean being paid out.

Nor Simon White, if Bower doesn't nominate for the PSD.

I honestly can't see White getting much of a game next year. Jamison and Henderson will have injury free years and Laidler has surpassed him. With Watson being fast-tracked, the need for an undersized KPD has evaporated.

Looks like it will only be 1 change to the list by the 31st October.

"We need to make 1 change."

As the rookie list currently stands, sure.

But Curnow and Tuohy have each done enough to earn a promotion, i.e. their contributions to the side, and being on the periphery of our best 22, justify a salary increase to the level of someone on the primary list.

If we promote both, we'll need to make more than 1 change, if I read between the lines.

If it's just list-shuffling and there's no one better out there, we can always redraft Kerr with our final pick. I doubt he's shown enough form in the Bullants to be poached by a rival club.

White won't go. Second year tall who played well on Hurley this year and polled votes in the B & F. We'll need insurance if O'hAilpin leaves. Jamison and Waite have never played a full season. White can also play forward.

That insurance is Bret Thornton. And Watson.

All I'm saying is neither White nor Mclean are likely to play more than a handful of games next year but the level of payout would be less for White.

Delist Kerr and Austin, rookie either or both of them. If Setanta goes, only one of them.

Use two picks only in the draft.

Upgrade Zac and Curnow next year if they continue to shine.

Make sense?

could be why levi didn't get the boot like we think he did, #4 ruck if setanta gets the arse.

would have liked us to ask around for a few fringe key position but if we've been over scouting them in the SANFL again it's irrelevant.

I would prefer the Setanta option as he is looking for more playing opportunities, anyway. I would not like to take the chance that Kerr might be picked up by another club.

22: Live - Houlihan
44: Live - Austin
62: Buckley - O'halpin
90: Touhy - Kerr

The last one is questionable but that is how it looks like panning out to me

Agree with this for except pick 90. Why does Touhy have to replace Kerr? If Touhy remains a rookie for another year, there is no need to delist Kerr.

I don't think that's right. I believe Kerr will stay as will White. If one of Emu or Irish are traded, that will be it. We will use 2 picks + Buckley for Hoops, Austin and Irish or Emu. Tuohy to stay as NR. If they are both traded we will use 3 picks. If neither are traded, one of them (probably Carlos), will be delisted

People need to pay attention.

Rumour was we were trying to secure Farren Ray in the dying moments of trade week. PSD candidate? If so would we shed Kerr (assuming the above EP post is correct)

I think we would be much more likely to (if we in fact want him) try to use 44 in the ND.

In fact, we definitely would if we want him.
PSD id way too risky with pick 13ish.

People always say this but players almost always end up where they want to go when this happens (Bradshaw, McPhee, Houli, Anthony, Macdonald, C Johnson). All of them were players of some value who were speculated to be picked up in the ND by other clubs then their preferred destination and all ended up where they wanted

The club said early on that they weren't going to do anything, yet the media made out that we would be gunning for players.

I know who I'm going to believe every time.

Lol at the Essendon nuffies on SEN this afternoon ringing up complaining how their club couldn't land Caddy this afternoon, and then when questioned about who they would have given up for him, they said:

Dyson
Slattery
Gumbleton
Davey
Jetta

What a bunch of peanuts.

Err, Essendon, you need to give up something to get something.

Deserve everything you get when you have a plonker like Adrian Dodoro in charge of your list.

Fair call I guess. But When the club said that I read it as "no big plays" and maybe some small ones here and there. But I'm not unhappy with the week. I'd like to think we can keep both Bower and Irish as well.

After our finals exit, Ratten said that 22 would probably never play together again. He also indicated we would be looking for a key forward. This lead to expectations we would be shaking things up a lot and chasing a big name.

When you look at it, we had a few key outs through injury and a couple of fringe players in that finals side. Chances are that the same 22 will never step out on the park for us again, at the same time.

Our key forward may come via the draft but more than likely with the announcement that Hampson will specifically be trained as a forward, that is what Ratten was thinking when he said that.

If Tippett can go from ruckman to key forward, no reason why Hampson can't.

I'd agree with that.
Hampson just needs to put in a big Summer where contested marking and kicking for goals are his number 1 priority, and his ruckwork can fall in behind that.

He could be a serious weapon in forward line, especially when both Waite and Walker are up there as well.

:thumbsu:

Apart from maybe the Clark trade, none of the other trades really made me envious. Lots of fringe players and picks being swapped. Nothing that would improve our list. My main worry before Trade Week was that some of our core talent might be poached - luckily this didn't happen. Happy with the outcome. Now's time for a 2nd round of list cuts, and some clever under-the-radar draft and rookie pick selections.

:)
