If this is to be, it makes sense that Vozzo says he wants a forward ruck as support, as Goldy usually rucks all game. Vozzo could be the greatest fox of all time here, especially with him saying several times over that we are not making a play for Goldstein. Smoke, fire and all that. Aggressive!

So you're thinking he'll go for Goldstein & Vardy? If this happens it's going to be one of the weirdest trade periods of all time. I'm still not sure I like the move, I think getting Minson & Vardy is smarter (& cheaper) long-term and Vozzo should be focussing his aggression on getting another decent mid or more draft picks.

I'm still 10 pages behind so not sure if been mentioned but demons are not offering much for 30 year old Lewis. I hate the guy but If we think we are seriously in premiership contention I don't see why we shouldn't be going for him as well. Would pretty much complete our midfield especially with nic nat back...

This is the story, main source is still Brad Hardie and lets be honest he's no Hackdorn so probably nothing to it. But again they used the under-performing Lycett line, I'm not sure this writer knows what that means, unless under-performing means anything short of prime Dean Cox levels of play.

NN had always been an impact player. I could see it working.

I just cant see how it fits in the salary cap.

The only reason I can see us getting Goldy is because the club feel Nic could be 2+ years away from being fully fit and Lycett's injury could see him miss large parts of the year.

While I'd still be happy with Minson + Giles, the club clearly sees value in top ruckmen, hence the endless stream of AA rucks.

Don't think anyone said Lycett was better, but he's still good, is much cheaper and fits the team makeup a hell of a lot better than Goldstein would once Nic Nat is back.

Assuming McKenzie goes to the WB, Brown as a free agent to somewhere, North would still need something decent coming back to them unless they are just trying to dump him to get him away from the rest of the players and we got him for whatever our next pick is after 88.

Nic Nat is a massive unknown. His greatest attribute could be gone. Goldstein is a contested marking machine that can also kick goals. I'd be happy if we offloaded Mackenzie and got Goldy. We would have a crack at the flag this year.

Lol. Take blue and gold glasses off and look what Goldstein did against Melbourne this year, then tell me when has naitanui or lycett EVER done that?

Make no mistake that Goldstein is the equal or better than any ruckman in the league, he is very good at his trade.
Having said that I would still prefer Vardy because if we can get him on the field which is the big issue then he can be a power forward for us down the track whenever NN returns.
If Goldstein is our target then I reckon the club thinks that it's going to be a long way back for NN.

Imagine we got Goldy on a 1 year contract. His personal issues just means he needs out of melbourne to sort some shit out. We then win the premiership, can see how nic comes back and goldy can toddle off back vic to profit.

He did well kicking goals this year but it hasn't been his strength in the past, this year he mostly did it drifting forward while playing full games in the ruck, not starting forward which he would often have to do playing alongside NN. In that department I'd suggest he's not as good as our current ruckmen.

It's a risky move because of the cost involved. I don't want to lose Lycett but it may come down to that.

For 2017 it looks great, but if Nic comes back NN-Lycett works in tandem much better than I can see Goldy-NN working. But who knows with this trade period.

Do you really think Goldstein puts us over the top though? I don't think he's the difference between us winning and losing a flag, that's on our midfield.
