I hope that we're not still planning to pick up Petrie as a rookie if we're already trading in Vardy for the same role, what the hell would we need Petrie for? To replace Paul Johnson? :drunk:
Hope that it's just a bad rumour. We still have Fmac if we're that desparate...

Maybe if Cameron and Goodwin are already gone? Probably need another ruck option on the rookie list.

Gain Mitchell, lose token picks, lose fourth rounder for Vardy (if that happens) take first and second pick to draft, gain Waterman with third rounder.

Pretty good business.
If that is the extent of our trade/draft dealings then I think all in all that's a good off season for the recruiting team. Not expecting Vardy to play a whole lot, but has the talent and should be handy back up if required next season.

Geelong board displeased with a 4th rounder.
I think we've got a good deal but you they couldn't really expect much more... He's a pick #42 who's played 25 games in 7 years and had had a stack of injuries. Even for a big man that is not a lot of games. Despite showing some decent signs when on the park his value has plummeted since being drafted.

If he's fit I think he and Lycett are the first choice ruck combo.

Interesting that we wouldn't give him more than a single year.
I'm not surprised as it's been WCE's philosophy for some time that any player over 31 once their contract expires is usually on a year by year contract. Both Glass & Embley were on this type of contract in the twilight of their career and think Butler is also. Probably once Priddis & Lecca's contracts expire both of them probably will be on a similar contract.

how do people feel about trading next years 2nd rounder for gold coasts pick 44+62. The way i see it is GC have so many picks in the top 30, these later picks are expendable and they will have an opportunity to have more currency next year again. yes we lose our 2nd rounder but i think we can get it back somehow next year and backing the boys to have a decent season.
In addition we delist brown (he will get a gig somewhere as DFA imo), move mcinnes to the rookie list and trade vardy for 72

in:
mitchell
vardy
pick 12
pick 34
pick 44
pick 54
pick 62

Yes
I love how crumpet face tries to make it sound like the Ballantyne deal has broken down at the last minute when Vozzo has been saying all along that we haven't been talking to Ballantyne. THERE NEVER WAS A DEAL YOU ******* IDIOT

He the goes back to the Petrie well that he's been drinking from when we no longer have a need for a forward/ruck if the Vardy deal goes through

YOU STUPID ******* MORON

Write that story idiot since the only scoop you got was from reading Bigfooty. You Numpty
Pick 106 might be on the table for Balla as long as 1/2 his salary is paid cos he is contracted

yes, we had 39/5 this year.

we lost cavka, ellis, bennel and ginners from main list and colledge, waterman + lucas from rookie list.
making it 35/2

mitchell and vardy make it 37, but when we delist brown and move mcinnes to rookie list it becomes 35/3. so 5 main list spots and one rookie spot. I personally would also delist tunbidge and go into the draft 35/2.

Is he even fit currently? Has he been playing VFL?

Marsden's broken more tackles than Vardy's played games, both happen once every 4-7 years.

I was thinking it's different when you are trying to bring someone in. Offering a 29 year old two years is fine if you have deemed them good enough to come to the club IMO.
