thanks all fantastic.. for Hawks + Mitchell. Your other post was excellent bout 5 pages back.. I can't keep up.. haha
But can you also detail how you think Mitchell will fit into our existing midfield? What we will do? what happens to the existing blokes and how they may handle it.
the other interesting thing someone else mentioned was the leadership side of things - ie. Hurn and other senior players..
He's a quality user of the ball through midfield and off half back.

What happens to existing blokes I don't know but hopefully any midfield minutes he takes are at the expense of Priddis and his leadership will be invaluable as he teaches our young guys out on the ground where to position themselves etc.

Can't see how this is anything but good for us as we transition our midfield away from an over reliance on Priddis. You should be happy

they basically directly asked about our 2nd rounder and he even kind of conceded it would be later than that.
looks like a 3rd rounder.

how does that effect us picking up waterman though?
would using our 2nd rounder be a stretch for him or is it looking likely we'd have to cough that up to secure him anyway?

otherwise maybe we can use the 3rd rounder we get back as mitch brown compensation
We really need our second rounder for waterman, 3rd for Mitchell would be a steal.

I get yah, won't be happening, we've already said 12 won't be used.
But if we're only sliding down a couple of spots surely we'd look at it. Especially if we're dead set on SPP, he's unlikely to be gone by 14 I think.

He is still an absolute star, sports science has come on leaps and bounds in last 5 - 10. His game is reflexes (good to about 37-38 going by cricket) and obviously skill (innate for him). He will more than contribute as a distributor in the guts and as flanker in the back half. Give him the #1 Guernsey.

Who's pulling it off though? Doesn't the story go it was Clarko's idea and the Hawks convinced Mitchell to agree to it before West Coast even sat at the table. They are so good at trade week they've taken it upon themselves to freelance now.
I'll take it though he's a quality pick-up, can't do much better for a 2018 midfield coach. And we have never had anyone reach 300 game's so potentially picking up 2 34 year old 300 gamers is an innovative approach to trade week, lets get some decent kids in the draft now to balance things out.
All reports say we have been talking to him about coming over to coach for 2-3 years (at very least 12 months).

Nisbett confirmed West Coast made overtures to Mitchell some time ago regarding a future coaching role, but he suggested Hawthorn’s pursuit of high profile trade targets Jaeger O’Meara, Tom Mitchell and Tyrone Vickery prompted the family club to advocate an earlier trade of their four-time premiership star.

“We’ve been talking to Sam about coaching in the future and we were probably aiming at 2018 onwards,” he said.
