If we have no third due to Mitchell and Jake gets past our 2nd.. do we get to use our 4th on him?
Yes. We might end up going into deficit which I think means we'd get a downgraded pick next year, but I'm a little fuzzy on that part of the rules.

That Fremantle are unlikely to have a pick before our 2nd rounder certainly helps in that regard
Depends. They'll get one before our 2nd rounder from Mayne compo, and they have GWS's 2nd rounder.

They can trade the GWS 2nd rounder to Hawthorn for Hill, and use the Mayne compo to bid on Waterman.

So much shit to go under the bridge still though

As some have suggested give Mitchell more minutes over Priddis. He is a far better leader and mentor on field to the younger blokes.
Priddis and Mitchell unfortunately play different roles but both have the same glaring weakness. Slow and can't run defensive patterns. Another reason this trade will hurt our team.

I hope Mitchell's first act is to gather the midfield together and give them the Glengarry Glen Ross mobologue.
"Nice guy? **** you! Go build a house in Cambodia. If you want to work here, close!"
BEST. **** OR WALK.

We need a bit of campaigner about us which is what Mitchell brings.

The Mayne compo pick is off to Hawthorn for Hill bookmark it

GWS 2nd rounder they will need for either Hamling or Kersten

Really down with this - get an A grade mid, who knows what success looks like, and who knows how to go about achieving it coming in for 1-2yrs, then transitions into mid/stoppage coaching role. Maybe helps us snare a flag in the process.

Huge play by the club

As long as we keep our 1st & 2nd round picks I don't care, get the deal done :thumbsu::rainbow:

I wonder if our boy Sammy is a little annoyed at the Hawks about it all.

Sounds like ol Clarko pursuaded (read: gently pushed) Mitchell to make the move early.. you would think he wanted to finish out his career at the Hawks as a one club champ and then take up the WCE offer. Especially since he only recently signed an extension.

Now Hawks get something in return for losing him (get nothing if he retires) and free up cap space. I reckon if T.Mitchell stayed at Sydney then S.Mitchell stays at the Hawks.

Sneaky Clarko is sneaky.

Why can't we offer this peanut 800k to join our coaching staff in 2018? Why do we need him to stink it up on the field in 2017? Why allow the Hawks to get a younger and far stronger list?

This is a sad sad day. Where is Ochre to make sense of all this!!!

There is a salary cap on coaches as well, so can't overpay him.

We were never going to land a young established A-grade mid during this trade period. Never.
We will get Mitchell for free, almost, and what he will bring to the club can not be measured.
After all this we will likely have both our 1st and 2nd rounders in a strong midfield draft so everything is coming up Milhouse for us at the moment.
