I, for one, welcome Daniel Chick Sam Mitchell with open arms.

Some cut up folks over on the Hawks board. Must be a big blind-side to them - you would have just assumed Sam would finish up a 1 club man.
There was nothing to suggest otherwise.

I'd be feeling sick in my stomach also.

Why can't we offer this peanut 800k to join our coaching staff in 2018? Why do we need him to stink it up on the field in 2017? Why allow the Hawks to get a younger and far stronger list?

This is a sad sad day. Where is Ochre to make sense of all this!!!
have you thought of seeking professional help?

Gutted he's finishing his career at West Coast. I've been watching AFL football for nearly 17 years and he's easily the best Hawthorn midfielder I've ever seen.

He's got a great IQ for the game and see's things unfold on the field before it happens. Arguably the best clearance player in recent times. He's always had the desire to enter coaching.

He's playing better then any 30 year old in the league right now and will help out enormously with the Eagles younger midfielders like Gaff, Sheed, Redden and co.

Sad it's come to this, but just wanted to say thank you to Sam Mitchell on his 15 year career for Hawthorn winning 5 Best & Fairest awards and 4 Premierships medals.

I wish him all the best for the Eagles as a player and as an assistant coach down the track.

the Hawks fans have to realise it can't be all take take take you eventually have to lose something of value especially when you bring in 3 blokes at 500k + a year .
Mitchell trade may not have helped secure vickery , omera or tom Mitchell but may have kept a young kid like brand on their list who has a bright 10 year future ahead for 1 year of Sam mitchell .

Great move by wce and I'm more stoked for the midfield coaching role he will take !

He will benefit guys like sheed duggo nelson and parto so much both on and off field

Not true. There is a ceiling and above that you need to pay an AFL tax. Collingwood have said stuff it - we just pay the tax. We can do the same.
Except if we attempt to pay him minimum wage as a player and massively over the industry average as a coach, the AFL might see through it.
