What's the "since 13" shit under the stats?
Is that why Collingwood are reportedly paying overs?
2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 = 4 seasons.
So even inclusive of 13... How good is he to play more games than is possible

Lets be aware this is for him to play for a year or 2 and then coach... But that year or 2 he spends with Duggan Nelson Yeo Sheed even Shuey could be monumental
Probably even more important I reckon is the time he puts into the kids we drafted last year and will draft this year and next, ideally they will idolise him already given what he's done at Hawthorn and spending 12-24 months with him as a team mate/mentor builds a strong bond that becomes very important once he takes over as midfield coach as they enter the prime of their careers.
I expect him to help Duggan a lot too but with the older guys and especially the senior guys it can go either way when he transitions to coaching if they see him more of an equal while playing. I get the impression though that his persona around the club is professional and focused and on message with the coaches so the transition shouldn't pose any problems because of this. Shuey is going to love having him around I bet, possibly the only senior player who might have reservations would be Pridda but in all probability Mitchell being in the side will help his game too- not to mention giving him extra motivation to stay at the top of his game just in case his spot comes under threat.
Another positive side effect of this signing is the ~500k in the cap is going to be spent on someone who is actually earning that money out on the field, and when he retires we can put that money towards signing a free agent (Start getting in Nat Fyfe's ear Simmo!!!). If Mitchell is not on the list then that 500K most likely is going toward topping up contracts of under performing players.
It'll also be very telling about the culture of the club. I think we've got the right coach in place. I'm not 100% convinced on our young assistant group. But from the outside it looked like the guys got a bit lazy in 2016 after a big push in 2015. I think the sort of year Sam Mitchell has in 2017 will tell us a lot about the work ethic of the guys he is playing alongside.
