With his confidence back McKenzie is our best lock down defender, I think people forget just how good he was as a defender.

I agree with this, our game plan of zoning off our player does not suit him and it also does not suit the side in winning finals.
If he can as you say play lock down defender then I think he will be a certain starter in our 22.

Would have thought tiger have learnt their lesson by now but no, they had to pick up another average player. I despise the tigers but it wouldn't be bad seeing them up and going again.
What do you have in mind. A rise up of 4 positions to 9th?

... what the **** are Geelong doing?

People say MacKenzie is gone but looking at his games last year, his pace and jump was still there. Therefore he has the basis to get back to his best. Just needs footy in his hands for another preseason.

If u lose physical then u r gone.

tbh not a fan of having the same clubs at the top and the sameone at the bottom. other than freo and port i'd like everyone to fluctuate.

Neither am I. While the equalisation rules in place aren't perfect. I think they are pretty good.
But having Richmond as the perennial cot cases of the comp brings me immense pleasure, long may it continue.

One of. Didn't say the best. Sheed,Gaff, masten and shuey(not in any particular order), Hurn and duggan tend to be the best going forward. Can add Mitchell to that list now

BOND 007 Are you aware of plans to move anyone from the senior to the rookie list like we did last year? It would enable us to take a 5th pick in the main draft and not the rookie draft.

McInnes for one seems like a suitable candidate.

Really depends. If we've committed to just as an example marsh and goodwin as rookies they are both potentially players you don't want to be giving 2 year contracts to.

With brown all but gone we actually have 4 senior list spots available as is

Had 39 - 4 delisted + 2 traded in - brown = 36 senior players

We have 2 rookies so 6 list spots overall pending :

Butler signing on in 2017 which seems likely but isn't confirmed

Tunbridge and snadden getting rookie contracts for 2017

It's assumed McInnes has a 2017 contract - there's a faint hope he doesn't

There's no DFAs that hold any interest imo so hopefully we fill 4 spots in the main draft and fill our last 2 spots in the rookie draft

With Naitanui being on the LTI we can upgrade one of our 4 rookies whenever suits us

Edit : corrected for ****ed up maths as pointed out below so this post doesn't make nearly as much sense as it did when I couldn't add up

I'm content that we didn't trade out a B&F for a lowly draft pick like 88.

I'm content that we've shown faith that he can recover the confidence he lost after a knee reconstruction and a revamped defensive system in his absence

I'm content that he maintains pressure on Barrass and Schofield for a place in the 22 so they don't get complacent. And that we have depth in our KPD position which also opens the possibility for other structural changes like gov going forward

I'm sure Collingwood were content waiting for travis Cloke to hit form again too. Worked wonders for them.

Wont get into a debate over it because I'm on my tablet and i hate typing on this thing

By your logic I'd love to know what actually does constitute just cause for trading a player in your eyes then. Do we wait for Marsden to come good too because he had a decent year in 2012? Or are we content that he, at worst, can play WAFL and "maintain pressure" on the rest of the mids in the side?

Mcinnes? Seems to me we'd make very few trades in that case. Unless they want to leave themselves.

Trading out what could potentially be a top 10 pick in next year's draft (which is supposedly just as strong as this year's) for extra picks this year would be a horrible call IMO
Yeah just edited. Didn't realise next years was just as strong. Next draft is the one we lose masten and mackenzie for second rounders;)

Mitchell and Shuey will wreck havoc on the opposition next year....... (BOLD PREDICTION)

;)
Even with Mitch there, I still want simmo Rolling Gaff there. Won't be a huge contested ball winner ever but that side of his game has improved in the last few years and still needs to improve. I think he has the capability to have some impact there and he did against the Hawks and crows this season.
