Not lost to them, sick to death of them. FFS we even had the suggestion that our club medico would break not only his clubs confidence but the patient doctor privilege. And it went by with narry a mention from others. ARE YOU PEOPLE REALLY ALL THAT STUPID?
Well, life is like a box of chocolates.

Are you that stupid that you can't figure out to just not open the thread if you get that bothered by it. Bloody hell, you used to make a good contribution yourself but it's got to the stage where people making rumours up are making more positive contributions than your constant whining. Most sensible posters realise, just like you do, that there is a few BS artists on here so just do the smart thing and not take any notice of them and worry about what the decent posters post otherwise you're just wasting your time on this site.

Not sure if serious, but if you are:
  • Before the dotted line is signed, then there's always a risk of losing a player. The two go hand in hand. Look at Grigg, for example, thought we had him before signed. Also, if you were settling some legal matter, would you spend any settlement money before the papers were signed? Of course not, because anything could happen.
  • As for Ratts, it's pretty clear the club thinks there was a deficiency because they sacked him. Don't think there was any secret that he was sacked. It was well publicised in the media. Haredly a character assassination.
  • Not sure how Harker confused his position - he said Ratt's heart was in the right place but that doesn't mean he was a good coach. Not sure how that is confusing. Some people can be a good coach but there heart isn't in the right place. Blight at St Kilda springs to mind.
What the club actually said was that if not for MM being available Ratts would still be coach, implicit in this is a confidence in his ability. No one ever suggested he (Ratts) is without deficiency, the man himself continually enrolled in courses to address the ones he himself felt he had. And if you think MM is without deficiency you are deluded. The point was not that Ratts did not have deficiency, it was that it is now convenient to blame the deficiency (if they in fact are deficiencies, they only are in some posters opinion) of someone else on the recently departed. Poor form and was called out for it.

Or we can thank or "revere" them. Either or.

That's all great. :thumbsu:

All forgotten so let's talk about football then, as that's what we're here for? Correct?

What do you think about our activity/lack of activity in the draft period?
Who would you like to see aim at and who do we need?
Who would you like to see traded and for who?
Draft picks or players?

If we are being exact, I believe Sticks said that was a tough call, not that he would necessarily still be coach.

The way I see it, it is not necessarily a question of deficiency. The players Ratten values for his game plan will not necessarily be valued by Malthouse for his. The opposite is also true. This is why often after changing coaches, the first year can be treading water, until they have the list that they want to use.

I also wonder though, if we had 800k to throw at Cloke, don't we have the money to simply pay out the players we figure are unnecessary?

And you conveniently didnt answer my point. Do you think it is acceptable for someone to post in here that our club doctor would break patient/doctor privilege and the confidentiality agreement he no doubt signed when he joined the club, to leak information about a prospective player, and the possible damages claim he would open himself and or the club to should the information be false and cause the player to lose other opportunities as a result.

You and others that ought to know better ought to think through what you find acceptable here instead of shooting the messengers that object to it. I objected to liars pretending long ago because it was obvious to me that this is the sort of place these things end up at.

It may not be the "popular" thing to do, to rain on all your parades, but those kinds of posts and those kinds of posters are highly inappropriate whether you like it or not.

Draft picks or players?
1. I'm fairly content knowing we didn't let Essendon get Bell.
2. I'd like to see us win another early pick somehow, either through pick+player upgrades, or trading out a ruckman if deemed necessary.
3. I would like to see us trade Ellard for Tippett. But we can't and they shan't.
4. Draft picks are used to pick players, semantically redundant.
:cool:
OK I'm done here, nek person.

Well, think Mr 40 Year Cranky Pants needs to head outside for some fresh air methinks.

You're the only one objecting to this thread, so go enjoy something else before you have a stroke.

We're all enjoying these threads whether we agree or disagree with the information in them. Either do that yourself or go elsewhere. You're becoming more tiresome than Mr.X.

Things I would rather read than 40yb's immature, petty and self-righteous sermonising:

1. Label on jar of honey-roasted peanuts;
2. The screenplay for Vanilla Sky;
3. Jacket Potato: The Life and Times of Joffa Corfe;
4. Me, Myself and Obama at Gunpoint: The Very Much Heterosexual Life Journey of Heretier O'Brien;
5. "Your car has been crushed into a cube. You have five minutes to move your cube."

I'm always very careful when it comes to 'revered' posters that come bearing bad news. We all should remember the 'sneaky leakers' years and how destabilising it was. Plenty of factions that see things certain ways, plenty of people that express annoyance about another person, based on one situation, that may not necessarily hold those views the next week. The damage is often done though.

You have people close to hands on sponsors, people who know someone who knows a director, someone that knows a trainer or a support staff member on the periphery, that are not privy to all the arguments, all the patching up, any corrective action.

Then occasionally we have some revered posters who have got that way because somebody revered them and others followed thinking there was a valid reason for it.

I like the knowing posters who temper what they hear with balance that it may not be true, and don't form a belief themselves unless it was a first hand pattern of experiences that helped form that opinion.

That's because you didn't ask the question genius ;)

It's pretty easy really champ, if you think it's bullshit, dismiss it as bullshit. I can't imagine you even being able to walk down the street if you need to break into a rant over every little thing that bothers you. Someone is full of it on the internet, OMG this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me. Move on mate, it's just not that big of a deal.

Any news on Caddy?

Caddy might still get to Carlton, but I wonder if he is a FIGJAM after the Tiggers plumped for Conca ahead of Caddy. Conca sounds like a mature kid with him being a psych student and a former VC or deputy VC of WA. We need more leaders and assertive players as much as we need talented players.

Hard to pick but signals are that Geelong will get him and the North people are hoping that Caddy may be traded to them for Macintosh and a pick.

That sort of sounds feasible, but just depends on how much Geelong really want Caddy for Caddy's sake.

Tbh never seen him in action, but he has certainly taken on a new sheen post season, ie: plays half a dozen games then his value doubles. Gold Coast aren't in the draft 'til 22??? so wouldn't think they have a gun at our heads for him.

In my opinion we hold the ace with pick 11, not sure GWS with their zillion picks will go mid-mid-mid, but reckon we hold onto that pick like gold and get exactly what we need.

Just sayin' :)

I cant help but notice a reticence on your part to answer the question being asked rather than the one you want to answer. A life in politics would suit you well.

Having actually asked the question it would be just genius of you to answer it. But I guess its easier to just hurl the insults and have the adoring throw their peanuts to you.

I struggle to see why North are after him as they already have a number of big bodied inside midfielders . If I was them I would be looking for more creative players outside players.

I would have thought getting a player after a Richmond pick would be a priority.

Of course there are some of us that do have close ties to the club, be it players, committee, cafe worker that all have some inside tid bits, an ex CFC player is a customer of mine he attends ex player functions, we chat and some of it I post and some I don;t. Frankly if you don;t like to read that stuff, don;t. More importantly, don;t derail threads for others or for your own amusement or ego. It is a Footy Forum...

The big question mark for me still sits around R. Warnock. Love him as a player, but given Mick has never been one to adore ruckman in the past, I still think something could be going on. The fact is Kreuzer, Hampson, Casboult and Warnock are probably going to be competing for 2 spots. In the past Mick has gone for the 1 genuine ruckman, which we can assume will be Kreuzer, and the KF/2nd Ruckman. Leaves Robbie as the odd man out, even though he is a superior tap ruckman to MK.

Robbie has the potential to be an a-grade tap ruckman, but it's very hard to see him playing lots of game next year, unless MK goes down. Amazing depth to have for us, but the question for Mick, is would he rather have a good ruckman waiting for a chance in the 2's, or trade in another first round pick or player.

The other option, which is seemingly less preferable, is if MM see's Kreuzer spening more time forward, with Robbie as the #1 ruckman, in which case Hampson is likely to be waddling around in the 2's.
IMO we should be doing everything we can to send Warnock to GWS in exchange for one of their 1st round picks. If Giles goes, surely they'll need a mature ruck.

40YB, you're much better served just talking football than coming here just to start these fires.
I really hope you haven't got to a level where entertainment is derived from engaging/instigating such petty squabbles.
Dislike some of the posts and dislike some of the posters (me included) but to pot them at every call is just not nice.

Look forward to some of the more constructive and engaging football discussion from you and who knows..........others may well follow.
