They're rumoured to be using one to acquire Jack Martin in the mini-draft.

Garlett isn't worth pick six.
I'd trade Garlett for pick six, even though i think he's a great player, pick six is a very good pick.
but then we wont get him for pick six, so i wouldn't be trading him for less.

Honestly, I wonder if Sydney themselves believe that they got a bit lucky in a year that was extremely even without any true standout sides. The teams that could have been the true standouts were all rocked at various points of the season with decimating injuries (Carlton, for one). Hence, Sydney are reportedly keen on Tippett.
There's no doubt this was a factor, as well as their lack of injuries - had 18 players play all bar three games. This kind of continuity really sets a team up. But irrespective, you don't waltz off with the big prize unless you've got a decent group and the Swans assembled theirs smartly IMO. If we can fit out the gaps on our list in similar fashion I'd feel more comfortable than splashing the cash around.

Love this one

How about this for a trade?

Essendon: Monfries & (Hooker or Pears) to Adelaide
Adelaide: Tippett + 1st Round Pick to Gold Coast
Gold Coast: Caddy & Toy to Essendon

I think this is a fair and well rounded trade where none of the parties seemingly get ripped off. In the end Essendon probably give up more, but get the man they want. Happy to hear your thoughts on this.
Monfries and Hooker/Pears is the equivalent to Tippett and a first rounder according this one supporter.

If Bell was promoted you would think we'd know by now.

None us us want to see Bell go but.............
If someone was keen enough to get him and offer us a pick in the 20s, what should we do?

Which number would have us saying, "Yeah, let's go for it"?
The only number I'd be interested in would be first rounder and that will never happen.

I can only assume that we are reluctant to elevate him because we would then have to delist someone else and this is pure B/S.

If we trade him for a second round pick we still have to delist another player to use it so the nett result is the same only we get a player who has to be developed and lose one that was in our best midfield group. This is even more astonishing when you consider that, from anything I'm reading, we are not in the running for Caddy.

I will be very disappointed if we let Bell go under almost any circumstance particularly when we are forced to retain back up players like Joseph and Ellard due to pulling the trigger too early last year. Both should have been offered one year contracts a la Thornton and Bower.

Our list management for years has been poor and losing Bell is probably par for the course.

I think we really need to keep Bell. I know there are some with knocks on him, but he is a key clearance player, and I would think he would continue to be one. His current play reminds me a little of a very young Jobe Watson, who was touted as a decent clearance specialist, but with sloppy disposal and decision making.

He has shown he can be very strong in the clearances at AFL level, more effective even than the likes of McLean, who was very very good. I think perhaps Carrazzo and Judd are the only two who are obviously better in this area than him.
Agree totally

Im not against a couple of these sort of trades to free up list space.

Ellard and 52 to Freo for 37 or melbourne 45?
They are the sort of trades we should be looking at. While i dont want to lose Ellard, it frees up a spot on the list and we could elevate Bell. By the way i will not be happy if we lose Bell, he was one of the only good things to come out of this season.

So at this stage we are (supposedly)

Very interested in Caddy
Interested in Jesse White
Interested in Gumbleton
Interested in Tippett

I'd take the chance on Gumbleton if he is cheap enough and if we could park him away for a bit to get everything 100% in working order.

Nah no interest in Caddy. People just decided we were.

Casboult signing would probably mean hardly any interest in Tippett.

Can't see us doing too much/anything over trade period.

Yes, agreed.

Jesse White? And people are calling Dawes a spud...if Sydney could not make a player of him nobody can. Mitch Morton was ahead of him FFS!

Out of those i would target White or Gumbleton. Wouldnt cost too much, (but then again Essendon would probably want a first round pick for Gumby as they overrate their players).
I wouldnt go after Caddy, GC want too much for him. Rumours they want a first round pick and a good player. Caddy played nearly every game this year and only finished 17th in their B and F. A late first round pick or early 2nd rounder should do. We can get a good young kid in this years draft with that pick so it shouldnt be used on Caddy.

I have just been on the Port board and you will all find this amusing. They think they should get pick 8 as compensation for losing Chaplin and Pearce. The reasoning is that both would be band 2 players and because there are 2 players it should become band 1.

Reading the rumour thread on The Drafts and Trading board.
"Pettard to Carl (Pettard not in contract talks)"
That kind of stuck out at me.

Would we really be interested in him? To me he's a poor man's 1AW
Hasn't kicked more than 20 Goals in a Season.
Anybody think he would be a decent addition to the club?
