The Blues are expected to conduct diligent medical examinations on the former top-ranked draft pick who is out of contract and considering a move after only receiving a one-year extension offer from the Bombers.
I read that thinking that we'll be conducting a digital medical examination.

Ellard and our 4rd round pick (70) for the Bombers 3nd round (50) is about all we can expect.

If we need to free up a spot to keep Bell, that is...

You're joking right? Pick 50 is a speculative pick and Ellard is a proven AFL level footballer. He's worth between a second and third rounder (closer to the second).

No doubt, between #28-#38 would be a solid pick for Ellard in my opinion.
But that's only if we need to cut a player and he wants to leave. Otherwise he's more valuable to us.

I'm being realistic. Pick 50 is 3rd round with all the concessions this year. A mid 3rd round pick is all you'll get for a player who missed rounds 15-21 despite Judd being suspended during much of that period.

Why do so many football fans have amnesia. Ellard has had plenty of good games in the last three years that are just as relevant as the six week period in his career you highlighted.

Your name is based on Kyle Reimers, you obviously have no semblance of clue in regards to what makes a footballer.
You have forgot to mention the fact that just like Kyle, he is probably the product of incest.

I hope we get a new medical staff before we conduct this "thorough" examination ... i.e. not the same guys that did the McLean examination, allowed Laidler to come back early and sent Aussie back onto the ground with a broken arm.
Easily the worst decision I've witnessed. zeeCFC

Amnesia? He was banging on the door during those 6 weeks - regularly getting 25+ possessions in the Northern Blues each round. Yet, even with Judd out, he couldn't get a game - the MC preferring first year rookie Tom Bell and second year rookie Ed Curnow. Those 2 are mentioned ahead of Ellard in terms of being trade-bait as we try to free up enough spots on the list.

If Curnow/Bell are worth at best a 2nd round pick at best, what then Ellard?

The discussion was about doing a trade with Essendon. Just try asking for their 2nd round pick (31ish) for Ellard and they'll laugh you out of the room.

I never understood this, Ellard blows Curnow out of the water, maybe they're just slightly different types of players, Ellard more offensive, Curnow more defensive.
