If Chris Dawes was ours we'd want a first round pick. Premiership FF.
However I don't think any of the 17 clubs will pay that. If Wellingham goes to Freo, maybe Dawes will follow in a package deal.
Otherwise, he'll stay a Pie.
No he won't stay a pie. On the news tonight he was given his marching orders by Buckley (told to seek a trade). Now neither Dawes or Collingwood will want him under contract in the VFL all year. Will be traded, and he will be keen to go. Apparently he wants to stay in Melbourne too. Us or Melbourne I reckon.

could the dogs use an experience ruck? we should try and trade our 1st pick + warnock for pick 6 and have an agreement with the dogs that if whitefield slips to 5 they need to pass on him. rated as the most complete player in the draft
So after getting three first round quality inside mids in the last two drafts you want the Dogs to not only draft tamper but also pass on the best outside mid to come along in years? :D

My moneys on Melbourne grabbing him. The filth would never trade with us. However, does anyone know what his relationship with Malthouse was like?

You know who looks bad in that clip? - Figjam looks bad - laughing at his own player - ovbviously given the game up..like the littel figjam he is- I loved watching the wobblers implode.
As for Dawes- I have seen every one of our players make awful boo boos - so what ? everyone does at one time or another..
at 250K - he would be a good pick-up. The amazing thing about 'form' is that it is mostly in the head of the player- he has shown he can be very very good at his best. Young enough to play a role - not a match winner - but can play a very good role for us.
That wasn't an isolated incident. I think that Buckley had enough of Dawes dropping marks and if he had any other ruck options we would not have seen Dawes again for the season. Picking up players that aren't cutting it elsewhere is not going to make us stronger and just takes up a spot on the list.

Melbourne can have him... they seriously need him.

Well I guess for me any decision comes down to risk /reward cost/value..
I cant disagree with a difference of onion regarding these factors and how they add up..

your negatives are just as likely as my positives..

If the guy is on as much as we believe he is I hope and trust that whomever picks him up (even if it is us) makes the Pies pay a fair share of that salary.

Dunno what to think about Dawes.

Heard him speak a few times and he seems to speak well and have a good head on his shoulders, so tick there, but in terms of actual football... some of his stuff this year was laughable.

Having said that he has shown something in recent years. Maybe he could flourish with a fresh start.

Who knows.

Good to see my man Membrey climbing the ratings, keep that bloody pick Blues!!!!!
Why no Caddy?

I can only surmise that if Caddy really wants to join St Kilda, Geelong and Norf, then he wants more money and the chance to be a marquee player. Their salary caps should have more room to move than Carlton. Though Norf would be the last club I would choose if I wanted big money that would be guaranteed.

He is apparently on 400k/year for the next 2 years... so if I was the club picking him up, I would be saying that we would take him so long as the filth picked up 50% of the salary this year and 25% in the final year.

That should ****** them well and good.

A supporter who went to the B & F posted on TC that we're not after Caddy and Tippett. Claims McKay told him both would be too expensive. Cloke money for Tippett. We're chasing a midfielder with pick 11.
Surprised he could remember anything after the state I saw him in haha.

Not too fussed about landing any of the remaining names. I'm just happy to see any new face in blue.

I want a young bright draftee to come to the side.
To be honest i think our midfield is already good enough to match it with the best. Caddy would only slightly improve on that.
There would be a lot of pressure on Caddy to come in and take our midfield to elite level, who says he can handle that
A draft pick on the other hand will just be there to do their best when they get the opportunity. They can take some more pressure in 3/4 years time when Simpson/Judd/Carrazzo decline.

Can't wait for draft day.

I cant agree with the senyance i have highlighted, Sydney Swans are a club who pick up players who arent cutting it and turn them into great players, something i would like to see us do. I would be very happy to have Dawes at Carlton..

This would have to be poor list management if this is the case, Judd's contract was supposed to front ended, aside from Murphy we have no one else that could classify themselves as a geninue A grade star, we must be paying alot of our players over their valve based on performances if this is the case.

This is the conundrum. Caddy is a good, tough young mid, may develop to be genuine elite, or may just be a decent upgrade of Ellard/Curnow. Can not believe the club pussyfooting around with Bell, with just a minor natural improvement over the pre season, he is best 22, and brings some much needed grunt to the team. We need to introduce some young midfield talent for the sunset of 5,6 and 44. One of them is already here...don't let him go.
Have to keep Brock too.
Caddy V Draftee at #11.....hope we jump the right way, which ever that may be.

Just because a question was answered doesn't make it true.
Imagine how many questions would have been fired at McKay, Swann, Kernahan, Rogers and co.

They'll just answer as the situation warrants and will play their cards pretty close to their chests.

The longer this trade/free agency period goes on, the less likely I think it is that we will land anyone. I don't think any1 as nominated us as a club they want to come to, and we seem to be ruling out going after any player that we are linked to in the media.

Dawes had a bad year this year but can play good footy (2010 & 2011 are good examples - under Malthouse no less).

If every player who has a bad year is immediately a spud, then we should sack half of our team....we had a shocker. There are gifs of Gibbs floating around, much like the Dawes one. Does it mean he's a bad player...or the scapegoat in a bad team performance?

If we could get Dawes cheap....i'd take him in a heartbeat. Forward line of:
Walker Waite Hampson (with some ruck duties)
Betts Dawes Garlett
Have the Cas or Mitchell on the bench, and when Waite injures himself in round 3, then whoever out of Cas and Mitchell who isnt getting a game, can come into the side.
