Do you even know how they figure out the compo? Age and salary are what they look at. You aren't going to get band 2 (which is what you think you deserve) for a 26 year old, who would not be on more than Ward. Ward is getting 800k a year, and is 21. No chance in hell would you get the same compensation for Foley.

I doubt it has to be $800k, I can't imagine he'd be getting any less than 550k if he went. If your any good and getting poached by GWS you are going to be on serious coin.

As i said before Foley is contracted. Last time i checked compo is for players who left without being signed up? The Foley rumour is for a trade.

Foley has made the AA squad and was on track to win a B&F if it wasn't for injury.

He may not be a former high draft pick but his output easily matches and is ahead of Scully, Ward, Davis etc...

Rischitelli won the B&F at the age of 24 & we received a Band 3, so did Adelaide for Bock. Not sure that you could justify any higher for Foley (although this is a pointless exercise given he is contracted).

The clubs of the players you have mentioned have compensated based on age, potential, & salary. In some cases it may prove that they have received overs, but we won't know this for some time yet. The system does tend to favour those based on potential rather than actual output.

I have to agree with the money GWS have paid for Scully/Davis/Ward is well above their standing in the game. While you cannot blame the individuals for taking the money, the pressure on them to perform to their pay package will be enormous.

It highlights how difficult it is to obtain a "Superstar" regardless of how big the offer is.

We trade 2 proven and quality AFL players plus our 1st rounder (24) for your 1st rounder (22) and 2nd rounder (40/41) in a weak and already compromised draft?

Which shows you that the article added nothing. A late pick is not useful to the Brisbane Lions. Unless we delist an extra large batch of players we won't be using any picks past the second round I would think.
