Maybe Ross Lyon got wind of this trade and that is why he wanted out. He didnt want to get rid of NDS and GODdard.

This was posted on the Carlton board (speculation only) and kind of relevant

Blues:
Give Hampson to Richmond for pick 37
Give Lucas to GWS for pick #2 in pre-draft

Tigers:
Give pick 37 for Hampson

Saints:
Give Dal Santo to GWS for pick #1 in PD + pick #5 in ND
Give Goddard to Carlton for pick #2 in PD + picks #22, 37

GWS:
Give pick #1 in PD + pick #5 in ND for Dal Santo
Give pick #2 in PD for Lucas

BLUES:
IN: Goddard
OUT: Hampson, Lucas, pick #22

SAINTS:
IN: picks #1, 2 in PD + Picks #5, 22, 37 in ND
OUT: Goddard, Dal Santo

TIGERS:
IN: Hampson
OUT: Pick #37

GWS:
IN: Lucas, Dal Santo
OUT: Pick #1, 2 in PD + Pick #5 in ND.

Saints and Carlton kind of lose out in this scenario.

+ I doubt Hampson will be traded given he just re-signed.

Dont know what the problem is, if anyone should be upset its probrably the Blues they have to give up a lot more, but they will also see that it could be worth it

I hope we keep Macaffer. If we get Clarke we don't
Need Pearce. Not sure we could afford Pearce
Unless we lose someone decent which is not worth it.

I would only get rid of Beams if we get something
Over what he is worth off gws or GC.. Would be satisfied if
Goldy was thrown in if it was something really good. Otherwise I
Would rather keep them both. Not interested in trading but would
Like Clarke. We have to keep the caf-man.

We'll if it's all true then just come out and tell us what player's are involved then let the rest of the puzzle get filled. If you get this right then you will be known for ages on bigfooty.

The poster said the Tiges were giving up a young gun and pick, in this scenario its just pick #37

Carlton are the ones who approached the Saints, the Tigers need to fill some holes and they know they have to give something good. This deal has been discussed for over 6 weeks now and is easily one of the most complicated. Carlton see Goddard as a forward/midfielder and could be a player to launch them into title contenders next season.

Why would Carlton need Goddard, they need KPP not midfield/sweeper types. As good as he is, not sure he is required?

For arguments sake (I personally think this is all bs), Goddard would most likely be played forward for Carlton. He's been very dangerous at FF, but hasn't spent all that much time there due to team balance. Goddard roaming the forward 50 would make the Blues look very dangerous.

Make no mistake, we were always into a "big fish" this year but after Hampson signed on, it looked too distant a goal to pursue.
Carlton have openly stated that it won't be too active through this trade period and if Goddard was in any way available we wouldn't have to do too many trades.
One would just about do.

Of course he would. Still, he isn't the genuine key forward that I believe you need to go that next yard.

You'd miss Judd though wouldn't you?

Here is one I heard earlier today from a reasonably reliable source. Not sure if it has been thrown up in the thread already. Crows to trade Tippet to Brisbane for Jack Redden and possibly a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Personally as an Adelaide supporter, I would take Redden in a straight swap.

Pearce should be played as a pressure half forward flanker with a few 5 minute bursts in the middle . His directives should be at least 4-5 tackles per game and at least a goal scored and a goal created . This takes him away from the tag and his focus off of possessions and a selfish mindset . His rangy left boot on goal and ability to hit targets makes this move a no brainer . Brett Ebert and Motlop are done .

Huge loss for Brisbane if true. Redden is/will be a dead-set gun.
