Yes i am better for our team, call me crazy but, i dont think Kosi is a forward. Has he ever really dominated up there(i dont watch the saint much) how does he go when Roo is out of the side, he is a ruck/forward IMO who would be competing with Minson each week for a spot in our team. Kosi is going to cost at least a first round pick and a player and that player is not going to be Ray asmuch as we want it to be. Campbell is young and big and could be our full forward next year, he is cheaper to get to the club(may cost Ray or a second or third round draft pick).

So

-Get Kosi -cost- First round pick(goodbye Ayce) + a player like eg. Boyd

-Get Campbell -cost- Ray or second or third round draft pick

Thats just the way i see it.

Farren has shown buckets more then Campbell - and that's saying something.

Boyd has been better then Kosi for years. I understand you need to give up something and maybe that on it's own would make sense in the long run but to throw in our first rounder as well? That's just throwing the kitchen sink out the window.

Kosi is contracted and a required player for the saints so if anyone wants him he's going to cost an arm and a leg. Boyd was an example of the kind of player they would want.

Nathan Thompson cost pick 10 & 26

I would have Boyd in my side over Kosi any day. I just dont understand why anyone would want Kosi when we need a key forward.

Kosi for Ray is a fair swap both show glimpses of talent....yet Ray is three years younger. You would not build a forward line around Kosi nor a centre around Ray! I dont know if we need either.
Kosi for a first round pick and Boyd........that would be better than a powerball jackpot for St. Kilda, Boyd himself if better than Kosi.
Hall would be nice, Ray and pick....not 1st. Not many years left in him wouldn't want to give too much away.
We are going to need another ruck Cordy will take 2-3 years I dont think Huddo will last that long, Wight will be our spare I suppose.
I looked back through the drafts Scott Clayton was as good as anyone, but has a phobia against good talls.

Their are plenty of teams that need a good third or fourth midfielder, Essendon, Melbourne etc he plays ok, he is still only 22 if he takes the next step he could be a bargain foe someone

We are going to lose Street and Ray either way then lose pick 31 or whatever it is adds to our forward line then if we could get Nathan Thompson for a couple of years wouldnt cost a thing

But unfortunately it is not a sellers market. Rays performance in the finals didn't do us a lot of favours. His currency depreciated rather than appreciated.

You have to know when to cut our losses. A high second round pick would be the best scenario for him in this market IMO.

Yes, probably the most likely scenario.

That fact that he wants to stay in Melb is a big plus. Open the market right up. A week ago we thought we only had WCE and Freo to play with - both with very high picks on the pre-seaon draft.

Hopefully a few melb clubs will start a bit of a bidding war, a la rawlings. Player value always seems to go up the deeper you get into trade week.

i think we are all underrating the value of ray.

Whilst he is yet to show brilliance for a consistent game, the player has a fair bit of talent. If ray was put in the bombers or demons midfield, he would become a pretty good player quickly. He was a top 5 pick!

I will be angry with any pick over the low 20's to be honest, an exchanging of 2nd and 3rd round picks with say melbourne would be very good though. Perhaps i am getting a bit ahead now, but he does have value, cambell and a 2nd round pick exchance may be on the cards.

Id be happy to get kozi, change of scenery could help him as he wont be shaddowed by riewalt any more, He can play across the backline very well, aswell as being a better then honest forward/ruckmen.

Boyd and our first pick for him is comical however. I think ray and a 3rd rounder would be a bit more on target.

i think we are all underrating the value of ray.

The thing is though, it doesn't matter how we rate him, it is how other clubs rate him that is the all important equation.

And maybe I am wrong, but after his season overall and his friday night finals game against Hawthorn in front of the world to see, I cannot see a stampede by clubs rushing to get him.

Of course there will be some interest, and some club will take him to try and booster their midfield but IMO a high second round pick is the highest we would get. It wouldn't surprise me if we got a late second rounder or a high third rounder for him. Unfortunately, we are not in a great negotiating position. The bonus for us though is that he wants to stay in Melbourne. This factor alone guarantees us at least a higher round selection than we would have got if he was heading home to WA.

Guys - Campbell at another club who will give him a real go will surprise. He was competing against Tarrant, Murphy etc. Harvey liked Tarrant (regardless of the poor games) and both Murphy and Campbell only got limited game time.

So I think he will be at the doggies as you guys need key forwards.

Getting either Hall or Thompson will also be a good move provided you do not have to give away the farm to get Hall. Hall or Thompson plus Campbell will be good and give your young forwards time to develop.

Do not rate Ray. Just has not come on and kicking is terrible. Trade him to Freo for Campbell.
