I'd rather Clive Hughes from the tigers.

Hughes goes alright I reckon but he won't be coming our way. McIntosh would be prime for the Saints I would have thought.

I think the club is resigned to the fact that we wont be getting a key forward by trading but they have to make waves and make attempts anyway to appease us members. Boyle is the most likely because the Hawks already have two tall key forwards but he will just be an ordinary filler I reckon. I hate to say it but I think Ben Reid from Collingwood might develop. The thought of an ex-Magpie makes me quiver but it might be a positive move:confused:

Oh **** no. Why Bulldogs? Why? I swear I'm going to turn in to Tempo soon if we keep going after tall forward hacks.

Now that is a bit harsh.

Jay had a fantastic year this year, switching between key positions at either end of the ground.

He relished playing as a key defender and running off, not too dissimilar to your very own Ryan Hargrave. He has very good footskills for a big man, and as we all know can take a huge mark.

You can take my opinion or leave it, I don't mind, but I just thought I'd say that IMO he had a fantastic year and I'd hate to lose him.

What would you guys think of a straight swap, Hansen for Ray?

Eagleboy there would be many Bulldogs supporters who would take that deal in an instant.

I am a bit hesitant myself as Ash Hansen seems as injury prone for you as Tom Williams does for us. Also he tends to lead & present, whereas I think we need a bigger physical presence ala Barry Hall.

If he wasn't out injured I tend to think that it would be a deal we would be slightly better off with to be honest.

I did hear that West Coast were at one stage considering a trade invloving Farren for a swap of draft picks.

West Coast > Farren Ray & picks 32 & 48.
Bulldogs > picks 20 & 36.

Tweak that a little bit

If they added their 4th round pick (I suppose about pick #52) to that, they might be close to getting it over the line IMHO.

I'm thinking we could make a play for Thorp and Dowler with picks #20, 36 & 52

We wouldn't need Dowler, we have Jarrad Grant coming through as that full forward type, Hawthorn would want the world for Thorp.

Jarrod Grant like these guys has yet to prove anything yet.

My veiw is if you can get 2 of them go for it, and then let Bouman, Grant, Thorp and Dowler fight it out between themselves for the 2 tall forward spots in the main team.

Considering Thorp never played last season in the firsts and has Buddy and Roughead ahead of him, I think pick #20 is about on the money. Dowler likewise never played a senior game last year.

And I think offering the Hawks #20, 36 and #52 that I mentioned in the other post pending a deal with West Coast and Ray could be reached.

Would get us over the line with Hawthorn for these 2 guys, expecially considering Hawthorn are going hard at Ryan O'Keefe and have made it known that they will need to juggle their salary cap. Hence a trade involving draft picks and not players coming back to them, I think they would find attractive.

That seems close to the money. We'd definitely go for this to get a pick inside the top twenty. Clayton would want to have a pick around twenty so he can try and draft a 200-gamer given Ayce has fallen to us. It has been said that the top 20-25 players are worth gold in this draft, so the difference between pick 20 and pick 32 could be bigger this year than in any other year.

West Coast also has picks 2 and 18, so it's not like they're giving us one of their first two picks.

Agree 100% and knowing our trading relationship with WCE and if Farren liked their terms, it would happen.

I think you guys are kidding yourselves with Farren Ray and Pick 20, 36 and 52 from WCE. This guy regularly turns the ball over and his kick lacks penetration, almost like having a younger version of Chad Fletcher.
IMO if you are lucky and I mean REALLY lucky WCE may part with pick 36 for him - there are much better players in the first 30 odd of this years draft.

We were talking about upgrading picks

You have jumped in read one post without reading the rest and shot off about it.

Acker - I read the posts - In effect WCE are giving up pick 20 and 48 for Ray. The real question is - IS Ray worth pick 20 - the simple answer is no. I think it was Callan that replaced him in the finals - why - because of Rays kicking. After 4 or 5 years at an AFL team if he hasnt corrected that by now he's not going to. A question for you - knowing Ray's ability would you take him or an unknown in this years draft at #20 ?

Well regardless of whoever we may trade Ray with if we do indeed end up trading him out of Whitten Oval, we should be angling toward getting a pick in the early 20's somewhere.
Probably need to bundle Ray with our pick 32 for it to happen, its not completely impossible, Richmond may feel charitable toward us again this year?

If you think its tough being a Dog during trade week, spare a thought for our poor old sparring partners the Crow's who have let go this outpouring of frustrated emotion in the media.

"Now, we can't even get the South Australians out of Victoria back here – they don't want to come back. They want to stay in Victoria because they love it there.

Cooney, Griffen, Lake, Tiller, Eagleton and Minson having settled into the Melbourne lifestyle must just about break the Crows hearts. :)
