not sure why everyone is expecting miracles from Bailey. I reckon he'll be better than Daniher, but if anyone expects him to give Miller a brain

hahahaha - not saying Bails is gonna make miracles but i think we can try and hold onto a 23 year old Warnock that hasn't had much opportunity...
Miller is need direction...with that new brain.

If that's the case, here are some ideas "maybe":

1) Trade Miller to Swans for Pick 29. Swans are interested.

2) Trade Warnock to Hawks for Pick 44. Hawks need backman.

2) Trade Fergusson to Carlton for Pick 36. Carlton lack strength in defence.

4) Trade Jamar to Richmond for Pick 35. (If they can't get Blake)

5) Trade C Johnson to West Coast for Pick 13. Maybe send C Johnson home to get high pick as possible?

6) Trade Pick 37 to Geelong for Prismal.

7) No Meeson trade. Draft Meeson in PSD.

Gain: Meeson, Prismal, Pick 13, 29, 36 & 44
Lost: Jamar, Fergusson, C Johnson, Miller, Warnock, Pick 35

Draft Picks: 4, 13, 21, 29, 36, 37, 44, 53 & 69 (9 Picks)

With all these picks, how would you like to use it?

Chris Johnson is nowhere near worth Pick 13. Do you mean Travis Johnstone? That would make more sense.

I love it but highly unlikely....

Trade Miller to Swans for Pick 29. Swans are interested.

Pick 29 is too high for a player like Miller (and Sydney actually have Pick 28 anyway). Melbourne would have to throw in Pick 37 to even that trade up.

Trade Warnock to Hawks for Pick 44. Hawks need backman.

Warnock has hardly proved anything, therefore I don't think he is the type of player the Hawks would be after. If any club wanted him, he'd probably be worth something in the 50's or 60's.

Trade Fergusson to Carlton for Pick 36. Carlton lack strength in defence.

He is 26 years old, so I don't think Carlton would be interested in him. Hawthorn were after him two years ago, not sure if they would still be interested, but hypothetically the Hawks might offer Pick 45.

Trade Jamar to Richmond for Pick 35. (If they can't get Blake)

I think Jamar would be worth something in the 40's (which RIchmond don't have). Richmond could do with a back-up ruckman, but I'm not sure if they plan on going through the draft or not.

Trade C Johnson to West Coast for Pick 13. Maybe send C Johnson home to get high pick as possible?

Sorry, but there is no chance in hell this would ever happen. Johnson is worth something in the 30's, but definately not a pick that high.

Trade Pick 37 to Geelong for Prismal.

I would do this if I could, but I don't know how high Geelong rate him.

I just thought to myself perhaps i was being a bit harsh on Jamar. Then i remembered his kick for goal against Sydney in the round 4 or 5 clash this year. Gettting belted and we needed something, JAMAR!! what a grab 30m out no angle to speak of..he lines them up the big man this will be what Melbourne needs to give them a sniff and lift the boys, very deliberate approach he sizes them up and.....its going going going over the boundary line and out on the full. How he didnt register a score there i'll never know.

yes i remember that kick very well it was digusting...............makes me wonder even more how the fk he kicked that clutch goal in the dying minutes at kardina park in 06' when we drew the game from about 40 metres out on a tight angle

Come of KTLK you continue to overate our players. Chris Johnson is not worth pick 13 or 24 or 30, you can get players like Ricky Petterd at pick 30 if you draft smartly and blokes like Newton at 40 at Bartram at 50, all 3 of those have proved they are superior to CJ and they are younger. CJ needs to massively lift next year otherwise he will be delisted, he might end up like Steve Armstrong but if he doesn't do it next year then he wont be doing it for the dees. If someone offered me pick 40 I'd accept, same with Jamar, Warnock, Ferguson and Miller, they're all for sale for picks between 40 and 60 (Miller maybe slightly higher) and I think Craig Cameron agrees with me.

While I don't rate Miller I still think we should give him a season at CHF. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the season of 2004 when he was playing his best football he remained at CHF for quite a few games. This may help him develop some consistency in his game, rather than continually switching him between CHB and CHF.

We really need to work on our spine. It's average at best. Neitz is over the hill, we don't have a serious CHF prospect (maybe Newton, or lets pray Miller can do something next year), White while being effective is getting old (our other ruckman aren't up to standard) and apart from Rivers, who should play as a floating defender we have no real CHB.

I agree with a previous comment made a couple of weeks ago regarding our defence. I have faith in Carroll, however he is a fullback, not a CHB. With a reliable CHB and CHF I believe we can have a significant impact on next year's season.

Our midfield is very good. It's an adequate mixture of tough inside players and skillful outside players, and our forward line with a good CHF would be fairly dangerous, but it is our backline and spine that are letting the side down.

General manager recruiting and list manager Craig Cameron:
On Travis Johnstone: "Nothing has happened with Travis today. There hasn't been a lot [of interest in him]. There hasn't been many offers. It's a strange week, trade week. We don't use our players as bait but Travis' name is out there."

On Brad Miller: "There's been a little bit of interest from Sydney. We'd like to keep Brad, so that's where we're at. It would have to be [a good offer].

On Crows ruckman John Meesen: "I think by the end of the week [a trade] should happen. At this stage, we haven't gone too far with it. It will probably be draft picks, but it's only Monday and by the time we get to Friday, or even by Wednesday, we'll have a better idea. I wouldn't have thought [we would trade] a second round [pick]."

So looks like we will trade for Meeson, rather than get him in the PSD. Adelaide want Pick 21, but we are only offering Pick 37 at this stage. Here is a possible deal which (I just made up) could happen:

Melbourne get Meeson, Pick 27
Adelaide get Pick 21, Pick 37

Because Meeson for Pick 37 isn't enough to satisfy Adelaide, we are swapping second round draft picks to even up the deal.

We can't just trade all our shit and expect to get something out of it. To get what we need we need to trade smart or trade bigger and better players (TJ, Greeny, Bruce). The Melbourne Football Club won't go anywhere unless we start making tough decisions.

Matt Thompson of sen reported this arfternoon A LOT of clubs were asking about brad green, craig cameron said it would need to be a great offer for us to consider it..................i say pull the trigger craig, trade him!!!!!!!

Those crazy Hawthorn supporters are suggesting Johnstone for Osborne. Surely not, no one would be stupid enough to accept that trade

Dont worry that is only one supporter, most other supporters would jump at that deal, as hawks would come out way ahead.

Depends what is offered, but I wouldn't personally.

Love your work bee dee. Wouldn't mind the club showing interest in Hadley, Williams, Blackwell and Tenace

Syd keen on Miller - they can have him for next to nothing!
No interest in Johnstone on his current pay packet, bit of a scare tactic. - will it work
C.Johnson up for grabs - see Miller
Carroll on the market - who will play full back, I dont want Carroll but someone has to do it
Ferguson on the market - see Miller

Nth's Brown wants out - if the price is right
Hadley wants out of Brisbane/Carlton - wouldn't give too much, yet to see if hes back from knee injury
Williams on the market (Hawks) - similar to hadley, but at least he wouldn't kick goals against us
Blackwell,Bentick up for grabs - no thanks
Morton wants out - richmonds for pick 18 wont bother me
McMahon wants to go to SA - scott thompson disease
White wants out - wish it was jeff
Tenace,Playfair,Gardiner all want out - the last two dont have much of a choice!!!
Boyle on market - would describe him as a soft leading forward, handy but we could role the dice in the draft with the pick needed to get him
Watts,Rix,McQualter all on the table - Watts maybe, but were already getting one former Adelaide high draft pick who hasn't yet made it

Any news on Meesen (besides they want 21 we want to give 37) or other rumoured targets such as McKinley.

It's worrying that it looks like we're going to trade for Meesen. SURELY we just risk it in the PSD. He's not a required player at the MFC next season, why would we waste our 3rd pick for him? Hopefully it's just some sort of mind game that plebs like I don't understand.

The Adelaide board has thrown up Daniel Bell as a possible in the Meesen trade which is about as likely as throwing in McLean as a sweetener or Simon Godfrey being un-delisted and named captain-coach.

I agree with you Marns, but I would give a 3rd rounder since Bailey must be keen on him. He was a high draft pick that could break out like McIntosh of the Roos... or he could be another dud, worth a shot with pick 37.

Anything more than that and I would walk away and just see if he lasts in the pre-season draft.

If he was really that great other clubs like Richmond (especially - I mean they are targeting Mark Blake FFS!) and Carlton would be all over him.

In summary if we get him cheap I’ll be happy, but it wouldn’t bother me if he went elsewhere.

We'll trade for draft picks, says Cameron

MELBOURNE hopes to use trade week to negotiate some more picks for November’s NAB AFL National Draft.

The club’s general manager recruiting and list management, Craig Cameron, said, “We'd like to get some more draft picks in if we could – second- or third-round picks – and if we could trade in a player who is in that 23 or under age bracket that helps us in a specific area, then we'd like to do that too.”

Melbourne is expected to trade for Adelaide ruckman John Meesen, a fact acknowledged by the Crows’ recruiting manager Matt Rendell. “(Ben) Hudson and Meesen will go to the Bulldogs and Melbourne respectively, unfortunately, as they both want to go, so I've got to try and do a deal with them,” he said.

Cameron said the Demons would take “a fairly low key approach” to trade week.

“We'll look to trade, but we think we can build our team around our 23 and under players. We've still got a number of older players that we think can be really good contributors as well. Overall we'd like to get some more picks for November."

I'll never stop saying it - I'D RATHER CAMERON WOOD
