I suppose the problem is soft outside wingers is what we have in excess and players like Buckley and Petterd already look to have a brighter future than CJ.

I'd be reluctant to do the 4-7 trade for Murphy but I'd definitely take Murphy for CJ and perhaps even a pick in a flash. The difference between Murphy and McDougall is everyone already knew that McDougall was a hack. Murphy could be a gem if he actually applied himself a bit more. A new coach could do that for him.

I've seen Murphy play some good football before, particularly in 2006. Good key forwards and harder to find than good midfielders. So if a Johnsone/Murphy trade was on the table, I'd definately do it. It's not like Johnson is a permanent member of the side anyway.

I'd trade Bruce before Johnstone. He's older, isn't as good a kick, marginally harder at it, and we'd probably get more out of him given his versatility

gee some of u guys have a hard on for simpson dont ya...........hasnt even played a game and ur already raving about him............if he plays for us he would want to produce or some of u are going to be heart broken............as for brad symes and dean bailey mentioning him, havent heard boo about him mitch...........but then again he is not high profile so i dare say in the first few days we wouldnt hear anything anyway................amon buchanan for a second round pick any day of the week for me, hes a gun!!

I'd definitely consider trading 21 for Symes but I doubt we would if we also trade our 3rd rounder for Meesen. That'd almost put us out of the draft after #4, the exact opposite of what we are apparently trying to achieve.

cant see Melbourne chasing Symes... murphy on the other hand would be a nice addition, i'd definately give up Chris Johnson.

Jude Bolton is up for trade - worth chasing a hard gut runner?

if so what would we give?

maybe:

melbourne get: jude bolton and pick 11
sydney get: travis johnstone and miller

or

travis johnstone and ryan fergusson to sydney
melb get pick 11

Probably favouring the dees when i take 2nd look at em....
you can probably tell i want that pick 11...:)

Yeah I think your asking for too much. I wouldn't mind a TJ for Bolton straight swap but it doesn't look likely.

Jude Bolton DOB: 1980-03-15

Travis Johnstone DOB: 1980-07-17

I thought TJ was a year older than that, hes only just 27, makes me more likely to keep him, in 2010 he will turn 30 midseason so could still be playing good footy. (I have a strange feeling about 2010).

There's not a player on Essendon's list you could throw in with 6 & 23 that would even make me think about the trade.
I agree, we rate McLean in Judd territory, ie. two top 10 picks or 6+23+Gumby or Ryder, pretty much there would be a mass riot (or the melbourne version which has all of 4 people) if he was traded for anything less.

A trade with Saints, maybe:

Melbourne gain: Pick 9 & Pick 58
St Kilda gain: Johnstone, Warnock & Jamar (they want ruckman)

About Swans, maybe:

Melbourne gain: Buchanan, Pick 11 & Pick 60
Sydney gain: Miller, Carroll & Pick 53 & Pick 69
(Note: Swans traded Pick 28)

Melbourne gain: Buchanan, Pick 9, 11, 58 & 60
Melbourne lost: Miller, Johnstone, Carroll, Warnock, Jamar & Pick 53 & 69

Draft Picks: 4, 9, 11, 21, 37, 58 & 60 (7 Picks)
Warnock and Jamar (if they are interested) are worth pick 58, but don't add anything to a trade of Johnstone for pick 9, which is too ambitious.

Miller for Buchanan, Swans would decline. Carroll and pick 53 for pick 11, Swans would decline by a mile. Pick 69 for 60, swans would decline. Throwing them all together doesn't help.

St Kilda's Pick 9

Thanks MB,

If you look at this way: Johnstone (quality experience midfielder) & Jamar (young ruckman with good experience plus St Kilda is chasing a young ruckman, handy 52 AFL games), a package deal for Pick 9 might work.

Johnstone is worth somewhere around Pick 12-17 mark and throwing Jamar who is worth 3rd-4th rounder would help to increase draft picks.

Therefore, this will help us to get another pick in top 10.

Warnock for Pick 58 = Ideal

Sydney's Pick 11

Miller and Pick 53 for Pick 11 might work. Swans want Miller and having Swans already traded Pick 28, Pick 11 is not enough for Miller for their point of view and Pick 44 for Miller is not enough for the club's point of view. Thus, throw Miller and our 4th rounder (Pick 53) might help.

In addition, Melbourne Footy Club mentioned Miller is required unless the Swans can come up with something "Juicy". Hope the above deal fits this definition.

Carroll and Pick 69 for Buchanan might work as well. Both Carroll and Buchanan are experience players. Buchanan (26) is bit younger than Carroll (27), however, lets throw Pick 69 as well to have the deal fair/even.

Pick 60= Might as well decline.

I thought I'd like to clarify this as we all have different ideas and wanting to share ideas to help the club.

P.S: Pick 9 & 11 can get us Rance and someone best available.
