It wasn't funny the first time, but Wood has shown great promise in his 16 games, and in a week draft is a good bargain for a big ruckman considering pick 14 is a bit of a lottery (could get the next Dunn, Bate, Bell or the next Chris Egan from the pies or the next 426) , so I say scrap one of Jamar and PJ if we get the two young ruckmen.

people seem to be seriously underrating johnstone in this thread, he is an elite midfielder who can break the lines and win us matches... there is no way i would consider trading him for pick 10+. It would have to be along the lines of gun youngster + 1st rounder.
i would not buy a membership next year if that happened

read on the fox sports website not only does it seem we are trading our best player in TJ but we are paying part of his wages for next season.
I cannot believe how stupid the club is. First off why get rid of him when you know he is a genuine match winner and why offer to pay some of his salary.... we should have ample room in the cap seeing we have no other good players to pay the money too.

I can think of onlyone player who could be considered in the class as TJ and that is Brock.
AND dont tell me that Bruce or Green are better than TJ.
1) I can't believe some of the things I am reading on this post!!!??? Why is everyone talking up Cameron Wood??? He has only played a handful of games and I don't think he is anygood (unco, slow, lanky= Dud). People are obbsed by ruckman all of a sudden, willing to pick up anyone who is 6ft4 and over. It is crazy talk!
2) TJ, look we all know he is more up and down than womens hormonal cycles, but fancy trading him for Cam Wood. To me that is a no brainer.
I think putting Trav on the table was used more of a scare campain to get him to focus 100% on his footy next year, I believe we will not trade him unless it involes a deal with us getting someone like Jed Adcock!

Wood cant get a game at brisbane, rhys shaw is terrible and TJ will be better for the rocket but.....
I think Jeff White could play CHB he doesnt win enough effective taps in the ruck and he cant palm the ball. Hes got the arobic capacity and the agility to play at CHB in a position that we have no replacement.
and Rivers is not a CHB he is most effective as a third tall
Nah thats what they have been offered, they still rate him (the club not the fans) and wont let him go for less than a first round, but we could probably do it for pick 21, but we'd be crazy if we did.

Jeff can't play CHB just cause he has the size and attributes for it doesn't mean he can play there. Its like saying play Mark Jamar at full forward cause he's 197 cm and weighs 100 kilos, he can't do it cause its not a natrual position for him.

Bruce and Green are better. Here are the reasons:
Both Bruce and Green are more versatile. TJ is a one trick pony. Bruce and Green can both go forward, play in the midfield and even down back (Green has shown he can play a floating half back). When was the last you saw TJ do that? Never.
Both Bruce and Green are far more consistent and have leadership qualities at the club. TJ has none of this and he would never be considered in the leadership group. He plays one good game in 5 where as Bruce and Green play on a much more consistent basis. They may not be as outstanding but their output is much higher.
All TJ has over them is skills and, more often than not, they go unsighted. He is still injury prone and his attitude has been poor for years. Granted, when he is on he is a ripper, but it's not often enough.
It's time we moved him on and kudos to Bailey for having the guts to do it. Your "sack the coach" stuff was garbage.

He is our best player, granted not our most consistant, but he is the player when on is our best. This year had injuries, but this started pre-season, and to be honest i think our pre season prepartation and fitness was the falling of the dees in 07, to many soft tissue and knee injuries early.
to be honest i can understand the scare, but we need TJ, we need a more consistant TJ but all in all we need him.
Green and Bruce are no where near in his catagory, both are good players, but not stars. Cam Bruce cant kick drop punts!
my thoughts are at leats things are changing. we need to do something and i think with young players like, frawley, mcclean, colin S, petterd, bartram, rivers, bell, davey.... we are looking alright.
Get miller at CHF and leave him there and it will all look ok.
Power forward would be a great draft, someone like mooney, i want some tough bastard

Spot on CFH. So many say Melbourne need to make the hard decisions to go forward and when it happens, they complain. TJ can be a gun but I think it's in his and our best interests for him to move on.
