Big win for us if we can get Corey for McKinley. We need more quality senior players in our team.

Pick 4 + 26 + 28 for Clark + 10. Brisbane still get r*ped.

Spangher for Hill.

We don't have the list space. I've gone through the analysis in other threads, but basically we need to offload McKinley and Spangher and trade in 0 players just to use picks 4, 26 and 28 and pick up Brennan late.

Grabbing players like Corey and Hill is only going to make things worse.

I'd do McKinley and 28 for Geelong's pick 23. I think that's beneficial to both teams.

for those looking at Clark - what role do you see him playing?

We already have 2 ruckmen - and Clark is an average forward at best.

Our clear deficiency is the midfield - this is what we need to build.

I'd give up four for Rich - not for Clark

This. Rebuilding the midfield has got to be our top priority, and we need the greater prospect of class that only a top pick gives you.

I'd rather keep Mitch Clark tbh.

But pick 4 and 26 would have to be in the equation, with a pick coming back your way (not 10, maybe 15 if we get it for Brennan)

Yeah its the possibility for a late trade. I think as a club we're heavily interested in rich and pick 4 wont be moving anywhere until its 100% dead set not going to happen on rich.

Pick 4+26 for clark and whichever is the lower pick out of your first rounder or brennan pick. If pick 10 is the lower pick (which i doubt) i would think a swap of our second or third rounders would also be required with it having to be in brissie's favour.

I'm thinking/hoping that there will be more delistings depending on what happens in the trade week, just holding fire atm, surely Hansen couldn't be staying on unless for salary cap reasons, nor Bones now Brennan is on the list. Houlihan and Nicoski are other possible delistings - Nicoski has no right at all to be on the list for mine.

All four guys have contracts for next year. If we delist them prior to the national draft then their salary for next year will go into the 2010 cap. Without knowing the figures, I'd guess that we don't have a lot of room in the 2010 cap since we had no veterans (so no relief there) and we're already including Stenglein's payout in this year's cap. So I can't see any of those guys getting delisted until after the draft.

Everyone else bar Spangher and McKinley seems to have a contract for next year, so it's difficult to see where other cuts will come from.

I'm hoping one of Bones/Hansen is delisted/retired post trade week, whoever is on the smallest contract and the other delisted after the national draft for a PSD pick.

Got a bad feeling Worsfold may trade and not draft - we only need to change 3 players on the list that can come from rookie elevations and trades we don't have to draft kids
Clarke, Krakouer, Gamble, brennan

Kids wont make a major difference to our ability to win games next year!

Had the same thought with a different emotion.

If we walk away from the trade table with Rich, Hill and say Clark - then foregoing our draft picks would be well worth it.

If we end up with Corey, Davis, Motlop and Krakouer - i will vomit

Meanwhile, another of Pickering's clients, Collingwood forward Leon Davis, also could be on the move.

"He's not so much on the market, as he's contracted for another year," Pickering said.

"I'm not sure what's going to come out of today's meetings, but if Collingwood get some interest from one of the Western Australian clubs - Fremantle or West Coast - then he'd certainly consider it, as that's where his family is.

Hopefully we don't bite, unless it's a total give away and we somehow manage to score the list space.

RE: Clark. I don't want him any more, but I still hope Freo break the bank to get him.

Suppose it depends on who we get but Worfold need results so I think we may lean towards Trading

I'm hoping you're wrong, if not, then it's a very ordinary performance by the list management team paying the full salary cap to such a poorly performed team. All four of Hansen, Nicoski, Jones and Houlihan played less than half the season, although in the case of Hansen and Nicoski that doesn't worry me. The only one of these players with any future or present is Houlihan but Worsfold doesn't appear to like him - won't play him ala McKinley - so no use being on the list. But then there's some chance of a new coaching regime about rnd 11 next year.

I am not overly excited about Clark, especially if we have to give up pick 4 to have chance to land him. He is a good ruckman, no doubt, but I feel we need to use the pick (whether it is through trading or drafting) on an area of greater need for the team (midfield pace and skill/ strong marking full forward etc).

Of course it depends on who you get

When Worsfold floated the idea of using pick 4 (as he did with pick 7) everyone is up in arms - saying he wants to trade out for results.

Then when rumours circulate that we might get Rich with pick 4 - everyone changes their tune.

Draft picks are just a means to get talent - whether it be through drafting or trading. If you can get more talent through trading - go that way

If you can't - then go to the draft.

We haven't traded away a top draft pick for 6/7 years - so unless we are going to get some quality for it - i can't see it happening.

I don't think Worsfold would be stupid enough to trade for mature players because it would indicate that he's feeling the pressure and that he places his job ahead of the club.

It would also rob him of his greatest excuse for our shit form over the last few years, at least in the eyes of the media and the more stupid supporters - "Young, developing side".

Worse yet, it could suggest he's losing faith in the youngsters and then he'll come across fire because he didn't develop them properly or we didn't draft well etc.

So, long story short, a mature aged pick up (I'm talking 26+) would be equal to the world imploding.

apparently Hansen is weighiing up his future and considering retirement.

I heard a few weeks back and posted here that Hansen would retire at seasons end, coming from one of the Eagles recruitment people, can only assume we are just waiting to see what comes of trade week before we start getting serious about list positions.

our first three draft picks for Rich and Clark?

Cox only has to play half the game with the sub rule.

Mitch Clarke is versatile and not only can go up forward but can play CHB as well.

If true, the best thing he's done since kick the first goal of the '06 GF...

If we actually do go for Clark I think Cox will be packaged into it. As mentioned above, all three of them in the same team is a bit excessive.

yes we must be carefull with the use of the word mature. I like falcons use of the word talent.
We should be trading for talent if that is better than drafting then lets do it
