according to the trade winds chat on afl.com.au, we're interested intrading Cox + a draft pick for clark.

i posted that on this thread a while back. spreads around ey

Theres a rumour floating around that Brad Dick may be up for trade, following some "attitude" issues at Collingwood (failing to attend grand final etc).

If so I think we should make a massive push for him, he could be that talented youngster/forward pocket we need. Definately lots of talent there and being a WA local being home around family etc could help his attitude. Worth a punt I would think....

I know Burns rates him highly and tried to talk him into coming accross last year.

I don't think Worsfold would be stupid enough to trade for mature players because it would indicate that he's feeling the pressure and that he places his job ahead of the club.

It would also rob him of his greatest excuse for our shit form over the last few years, at least in the eyes of the media and the more stupid supporters - "Young, developing side".

Worse yet, it could suggest he's losing faith in the youngsters and then he'll come across fire because he didn't develop them properly or we didn't draft well etc.

So, long story short, a mature aged pick up (I'm talking 26+) would be equal to the world imploding.

I have got no doubt that Worsfold would do it. You are giving him way too much credit. He doesn't think that far ahead about how it may invalidate his excuse and he won't be worried about what the media say if he trades picks for old players. He mainly only does interviews with friendly journos anyway.

He won't be able to though. In my view we won't be involved much in trade week. Worsfold won't agree to trading out any significant players to get players for the future and the club won't agree to letting him trade out picks for old players, which is clearly what he is wanting to do. The end result will be that we will be involved in very few trades other Spangher and McKinley.

apparently Hansen is weighiing up his future and considering retirement.

This was mentioned a few weeks back and I still haven't heard any more about it. I really think it's time that he did the right thing for the club and retired. He was great for us during our premiership run but is now just a list clogger who we don't need, especially since they retained Lynch. I sure hope sanity prevails here and we hear of his retirement soon.

How anybody can say that trading out a Dean Cox or a Daniel Kerr for a Mitch Clark isn't worth it or a good deal is utterly beyond me. Cox and Kerr both have probably 2 seasons/30-50 games left in them. Clark has likely 8 years and 120-150 games left in him.

Looks like Bulldogs need picks to secure Sherman and Verpreszi(spelling)

So maybe offload hill to us for 28 and on trade to Brisbane / Sydney

Mckinley - Carlton / Geelong not likely to get more than 2nd rounder so thats pick 35 / 40

Spangher no interest maybe delisted -just what I can gather from blogs

I completely agree. That's why I've been an advocate of trading out Cox and Kerr.

Saying that they're required players and going on about how good they currently are, or can be, when fit, isn't taking into consideration that those two won't be around to help WC win their next flag. WC should be rebuilding with players under the age of 23. The club and fans need to put sentiment aside so that the squad can be molded into a future force, not bolstered for the impatient who want limited success as early as next season.

See that would work if the side delisted lynch nicoski and such why keep them and get rid of cox?

Clearly - look at all the facts you present making that such a compelling argument.

With all the 'yes' men Woosha has around him - supposedly they are now saying 'no'??

Keep punching Geoffe!!

I'm thinking/hoping that there will be more delistings depending on what happens in the trade week, just holding fire atm, surely Hansen couldn't be staying on unless for salary cap reasons, nor Bones now Brennan is on the list. Houlihan and Nicoski are other possible delistings - Nicoski has no right at all to be on the list for mine.
HOULIHAN, HOULIHAN Are you flipping CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!
Heres a kid that has all the requirements we need and want and because he was injuried for most of last year you think he should be delisted.....Obvious TROLL.

Chris Pelchen said they were looking at some of the Tall defenders on the market, Named Tarrant (but said they are simpathetic to his wants of returning to Pies and then Named Spangher as another possibility.

If they are interested in spangher they may just be waiting to see what deals get done first on the big names then look for the lesser lights.

If Clark were to come to WC, Cox should be traded. WC should not be shooting down inquiries into Cox's availability.

Some could say that Lynch is a back up Ruckman, hence no need for Clark. But Lynch is on a 1 year deal. He's goneski when that deal is up. Lynch isn't a viable long term option in the Ruck, nor is Cox. Measures have to be taken to preempt a foreseeable problem and nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem.

Cox has trade value. Clark is a quality replacement, who's young. The WCE wanting of Clark should be a no-brainer. It should just be a matter of how much we're willing to pay.

Nicoski is under contract. The decision to keep Lynch was made before the emergence of Clark as a trade option. If Hansen retires and is paid out, that would help the club.

i really see no point in getting clark.

he will cost us a heap, and he isnt exactly what we require. we need quality running players.

rich i certainly would go for.

corey is/was a gun, but i just dont see the point now.

no to leon davis

yes to brad dick, would give pick 26 for him.

Agree with everything in this post except for Dick at 26.

Clark's manager said in an article I read (don't remember where) that he put up his hand for a trade a couple months ago when the Lions' salary cap pressure came to a head. He didn't specifically want a trade, but he would be willing to go if it came to it. Part of the reason was that he prefers to play a CHF role, rather than lead ruck.

Surely with the incoming substitute rule we could use a player like him. Naita would obviously be 1st ruck and Clark could mostly play forward (or CHB if needed as he is good there too) and give Naita a chop out too.

Obviously with Cox, Naita and Clark, something would have to give so as much as I love Cox (no homo), it would be really beneficial for us to include him in the trade and to take the Naita/Clark ruck combo into the future IMO. Failing that, we would be forced to play Clark as a permanent forward or defender until Coxy loses his place in the side or retires, which I guess wouldn't be too bad so long as we don't pick super-tall sides as a result.
