"Damian Barrett reveals Ryan Gamble is a chance to go to the Blues"

Could be that they have cooled on Bmac.

If we get a couple of late picks for Mckinley and Spangher that we don't use it will be a disgraceful outcome.

i fail to see how west coast could argue shuey is worth pick 8. he was drafted at pick 18and has played little football in 2 years and subsequently hasn't developed much. For example if WC were to lose him to GC as an out of contract player the compensation would be equivalent to nathan krakouer at best - 3rd round draft pick.

Obviously i rate him as do many an eagles fan but realistically his trade currency is not worth pick 8.

Trade murmur: Eric the Eagle on the email says: "Inside news here. Matt Spangher to Carlton will happen tomorrow and Ben McKinley to Westen Bulldogs will be finalised by Friday lunch at latest. WCE just waiting on other trades to finalise with the picks going to WCE and a player possibly Grigg. McKinley deal needs a push from Western Bulldogs to get what WCE wants.

If Shuey left I would probably stop watching eagles play I think he is our success player.. he seems really loyal and wanting to play at Eagles so I think he will stay.

He has not played because of injury, Yes agreed hard to see from outside what he is worth - but we don't want to lose him

remeber this draft is compromised so pick 8 is worth pick 20

A number of Essendon fans on your board seem very happy to take Shuey for pick 8. Seems to be an OK indication of what fans think he is worth in any case.

Don't see how the GC is at all relevent. But they give greater compensation for younger players, and those taken earlier in the draft.

i agree pick 8 this year is akin to pick 20.

however trading for a 20yr who has experienced injuries and health problems (glandular) instead of a talented fit 18yo (a pick 8) needs to be taken into consideration.

personally i don't see a top ten pick being put on the table (regardless of compromised draft). had essendon been trading a pick between 15-20 i think it would be more reasonable.

its only rumour at this stage anyway - i haven't seen anything official that shuey has requested a trade but whilst he remains uncontracted it will be a talking point.

Don't think it's that reasonable.

That's the same pick we got him for, in a weaker draft that has already been compromised. Even if he wanted to leave we'd be asking for more.

If we manage to get our hands on Grigg I'll be very pleased.

Strongly doubt it'll happen though.

So many flaws in your logic.

Glandular and a broken leg are hardly indicative of any long term weakness' in his physical make-up.

Anyone who has seen him play would realise how good he will be. Pick 8 isn't a bad pick. Maybe you would give us that for Masten. I mean he was a Pick 3 and has played a number of games, shown a bit and "ready to explode" ...

:)

sadly i think we're going to get shafted and only get around pick 20 for him.

sigh...it's like judd all over again.

had high hopes for this kid.

Quinz card this guy quickly. He'll be the detonator in the geoffe miles atom bomb. His ol mate hardie will catch wind of this and geoffe will explode and wipe out most of the southern suburbs of perth ;)

This would be my ultimate (reasonably realistic result):

Spangher + Mckinley + 28 to Carlton for Pick 18.
Pick 26 to Suns for Krakouer + Ceglar.
Pick 45 to WB for Josh Hill.

This would mean we gain Pick 18, Krakouer, Ceglar, Hill.
And lose Pick 26, Pick 28, Pick 45, Spangher, Mckinley.

So we'd go into the draft with Pick 4 (Heppell or Gaff) , Pick 18 (Lamb or Darling) and Pick 62 (Brennan). Then with our PSD pick we can select whoever, and we can upgrade Stevenson to the main list. Whilst delisting 2 of Nicoski, Bones or Hansen.

How are you going to fit Krakouer, Ceglar, Hill, Pick, 4, 18, Brennan and PSD onto our list (whilst retaining Stevenson) while only deleting Mckinley,Spangher, Hansen and Bones?

40 doesn't go into 38, I just dont see how the numbers stack up? (veterans taken into account)

Has our list squeeze crisis gone somewhat unnoticed on this board?

Rumoured trades:
Richard Tambling (Richmond): Tipped to go to Adelaide Crows on Wednesday
Mitchell Clark (Brisbane Lions): Fremantle are rumoured to be interested but it appears unlikely
Josh Hill (Western Bulldogs): Hawthorn have confirmed they are chasing the small forward
Chris Tarrant (Fremantle): No more news on a potential trade to Collingwood. Hawthorn admit they are a long shot.
Justin Sherman (Brisbane Lions): Desperately wants a trade to Western Bulldogs, but Sydney have put a very attractive deal on the table
Sam Jacobs (Carlton): Talks between Blues and Adelaide seemed to have stalled
David Hale (North Melbourne): Melbourne are the front-runners but Hawthorn have confirmed their interest
Andrew Walker (Carlton): Adelaide are thought to be the front-runners but Port Adelaide have also made a offer
Bachar Houli (Essendon): Very strongly linked with a trade to Richmond
Matthew Spangher (West Coast): Linked with a trade to Carlton
Ben McKinley (West Coast): Linked to Carlton, North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs
Rick Ladson (Hawthorn): Has told the Hawks he would be happy to be traded
Tyson Goldsack (Collingwood): Strongly linked with Hawthorn, who admit they are courting an 'unnamed defender'
Jared Brennan (Brisbane Lions): Not much news but still linked to Gold Coast Suns
Will Minson (Western Bulldogs): Strongly linked to Gold Coast Suns, but Bulldogs say they want to keep him
Will Thursfield (Richmond): Linked to both Hawthorn and Fremantle
Shaun Grigg (Carlton): His manager says he is keen to go to Richmond
Josh Fraser (Collingwood): Has reportedly attracted interest from several clubs

well when you draft an 18yo in the first round you anticipate 12 years of service with the guy getting in about 15 games in his first 2 seasons.

with shuey he's basically missed 2 years of football, will take a year to develop now so he's behind the 8-ball in terms of value on the open market.

i wouldn't be upset if essendon traded pick 8 for shuey but i don't see it happening. more chance of trading pick 30 and whatever compensation they get off richmond for houli assuming that goes thru. should richmond give up pick 29 i personally think a deal of picks 29+30 is adequate.

That's the beauty of the market

When the buyer and seller disagree on the products worth - it remains unsold.

Happy days - Shuey stays at WC
