anyone in their right mind would take BMac AND Spanger off our hands for a top 20 pick in exchange for our pick 26.

KPD are hard to come by and he hasn't been exactly awful. I would say he isn't exactly far behind Schofield or Brown at this stage. Being KPD increases his value.

BMac is a known goal kicker who obviously seriously pissed off Woosha this year and yet still managed to knock up 3rd on our goal kicking list.

Both are considered surplus to requirements and while they arent superstars, your suggestion that there is a superstar difference between pick 18 and pick 26 is twice as ludicrous.

Krakouer off to Collingwood, great start to trade week by us

Yeah, we missed out on the chance to pay way over the odds for a guy who'll be into his 30s by the time we're anywhere near competing for a flag. Someone's head should roll for that one.

Don't get me wrong, Krakouer is class and he'll probably do pretty well at Collingwood. The difference is that they've just won a premiership and they're looking to add to it. We've just won a wooden spoon and we're looking to build for the future. We don't need someone who will turn 28 before the next season starts.

In fact, if we gave up pick 26 or 28 for him (which may not have even got the deal done, to be honest) I'd wager the exact same people would be jumping up and down saying the club's lost the plot.

You got to seriously wonder about the intelligence quotient of this board when people think anyone in their right mind would take BMac AND Spanger off our hands for a top 20 pick in exchange for our pick 26. Why not throw in Nicoski and aim for a top 10? (before anyone gets too excited, that was sarcasm)

Carlton have been linked to both players. It's only a downgrade of 8 picks to get two players they're (apparently) after. I suggested we could throw in later picks to make it more enticing.

I don't think it's that unrealistic frankly.

Anyone but Collingwood :)

Well hopefully we're more active tomorrow.

Well at least you can be thankful that our interest in Krakouer helped to push up the price Collingwood paid for him ;)

When you say "more active", what are you expecting? Personally I don't think we'll do anything more than offload McKinley and Spangher and get (hopefully) some slight pick upgrades in return.

You know i thought i hated fremantle supporters and thought they were all just a bunch of turncoat former eagles supporters. TBH in a direct comparison to collingwood at least they were smart once upon a time in following west coast. You have to be a w***er all the time to support collingwood.

I swear i hate them more and more everyday. They get special priviledges in regards to other victorians who already get pricktorian bias from the afl amongst other things. It's supposed to be the ****ing afl not some pricktorian football league with a changed name.

Perhaps not.

As reality sets in, it is looking clear that we will use our drafts to rightly draft good young talent. We will only trade the get a small upgrade if offered for list cloggers.

BMac and Spangher are not in the best 22 of the wooden spooners - not of huge value you must admit. Spring cleaning rather than major trade opportunities on our behalf.

There isnt much on offer that would benifit us as an in trade..

I don't mind the pies - they play a great brand of footy. Usually and enjoyable game when they play (except when they mauled us )

I didn't mind them winning the flag, against St.Kilda cause I really don't care about them either. They were the best side this year and deserved it. Plus Goldsack deserved a medal for winning me $810 :D

If my bet on kerr for the 2011 brownlow comes through look out :D

Only got a redback on it but nice juicy odds.

Interesting quote from Greg Miller who was helping Krak make his mind up.

"He can go in the draft, he can go into the pre-season draft or he can accept the fact Gold Coast can list him and trade him."

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...a-the-gold-coast/story-e6frf9jf-1225935117693

The way I read that - Krak can nominate for the PSD if he so chooses - as such we can take him with our PSD 1 pick if we want him.

If that is the case - i daresay we never were into him.

Thoughts?

We have a winner!:):thumbsu:

The fact that he said in an interview on Swans website that he would move anywhere in Australia to play again made me realise, that was the first hint.

Again, the problem I have with this is that it shoots down my theory that some bloke in the media has more contacts than me and is therefore always right, and said we'd give up a first rounder for Krak. Now, where to find those sources.....

Regarding how smart we are or are not if we are talking with Carlton we should offer to help them out with the Jacobs trade to the Crows.

Basically if they do the right thing by us with McKinely and / or Spangher we then go and inform Jacobs management that if he is there in the PSD we will take him. That would give the Blues more negotiating power and force up what the Crows would need to pay if they wanted him.

Just a subtle tactic to build some credits with the Blues that basically costs us nothing.;)

Then again that might be a tad obvious as we'd probably take him anyhow.:eek:

Fox Sports News blog:

1636: Trade murmur: Eric the Eagle on the email says: "Inside news here. Matt Spangher to Carlton will happen tomorrow and Ben McKinley to Westen Bulldogs will be finalised by Friday lunch at latest. WCE just waiting on other trades to finalise with the picks going to WCE and a player possibly Grigg. McKinley deal needs a push from Western Bulldogs to get what WCE wants.

I'd definitely take that with a grain of salt, but at least there's murmurs of positive movement.

If the Bulldogs link is true you'd think perhaps Stack would be thrown in the mix.

Wonder what could be involved in the Spangher trade, especially if it's going down tomorrow?

Their pick 53 would probably be fair but I'd say WC asking for more. Historically we try to upgrade picks, but an exchange of 44 for 36 is pretty minimal. Could depend on what happens with Grigg.

Nice to see people liking my massive trade proposals post, but with Krakoeur reportedly going to the GC, it wont be happening:thumbsdown:

I'd still like to see Spangher + Mckinley + pick 26/28 to Carlton for Pick 18.
But I'd also be happy with a pick upgrade for Spangher (maybe we could package him with pick 45 to Carlton for pick 36), or a straight swap for Mckinley, in return for Josh Hill from the dogs. I mentioned it earlier as well, GC may be interested in Hansen as a short-term Foward option, so maybe we could practically give him to them. Hansen + pick 28 to GC for pick 27?

I would be happy with 3rd or 4th rounder for Hansen which we would use on Brennan and use pick 45 on a mature draft player or a small forward that could be sneaking under the radar

McKinley and 28 for bullies compensation pick?

It's only a 1 pick upgrade for this year - however if we hold it - it can be pick 19 in 2012 - which we can then use on the 2012 crop (which is supposedly looking strong) or trade for a 21-25 year old player with it at that stage

We could then look at upgrading pick 45 using spangher

A little bit of short term pain, long term gain!

thoughts?

We ain't going to get d1ck for Mckinley or Spangher, some 3rd/4th rounder we won't even use.

Big changes down at west coast all right, min list changes, max assistant coach blame gaming.

McKinley and 28 for bullies compensation pick?

Less than ideal for the Eagles. I believe this should be close to the last year we invest in the draft for kids to be in our 22 for the coming premiership tilt.

Getting another pick in 2 further years will not be as useful to us.

Good point, but it's not to say young players we pick up later can't have a big influence on a premiership tilt.

Players such as Joel Selwood and Cyril Rioli were significantly younger than the rest of the core players in their respective premiership teams but still had significant roles.

However, Jordan Matera is like 14 now so he could be our man when the time comes. :thumbsu: ;)

We should keep on targeting youth till we are top six. Collingwood has plenty of second year players in their flag side.

Can i see us challenging for a flag in the next two seasons. Nope.

Did you want to give up a top 30 pick for him?

Im happy for Krakouer. Why would he want to come to the spoon side at the age of 28. Instead he heads to Collingwood, a side he wont walk into and a side that could very well help deliver him a premiership.

It's unforutnate that McKinley is going to Western Bulldogs. I wouldn't want to offer 45 and McKinley for Hill as id like that pick in the National Draft. Spangher is worth little and we won't get much more than a late third rounder.

we don't have to use that pick 19 on a teenager - we can look to trade it for a mature player at that time.
