I have been thinking about this whole trade week and lack of WCE movement and i am warming to it being a good sign. Sure we got mighty shitty with the coaching staff and players this year but lets think about this a bit. We have had few bright sparks of late and we are the joke of the competition but that aside the last few years this has been Melbourne and before them Carlton they were pure shit and LOL funny to watch them get smashed every week. We are now at this point we have hit rock bottom during our rebuild, we have criticized our roster and staff and fear that nothing will come good again. We need to look at the teams from the last few years who just got on with the rebuild. We have genuine young talent at this club who are still to reach there potential we have three very good picks in the coming draft, we have or will delist some dead weight. Next year may not be better pastures but they should sure be greener, whether that is with Woosha in charge or a new coach time will only tell. Lets remember we barely get belted week in week out unlike the Dees did. We have a massive fan base who demand results, we have cash to buy the best staff and we have a very good history.
With this being said my anger at this season and lack of activity has dropped away and i see what my fellow BF board members have been telling us more angrier members. Just be patient.

Of topic but was on my mind.

You're a little late to the party mate...

Yeah just think how good carlton would be with Kennedy, masten and maybe pears (substitute for notte)

Foxsports - End of day 2
Speculation:
Justin Sherman (Brisbane Lions):
Western Bulldogs and Sydney Swans still vying for his services
Chris Tarrant (Fremantle):
Still keen to join Collingwood, while Hawthorn say they are still interested
Will Thursfield (Richmond): Hawthorn have ruled themselves out. Expected to end up at Fremantle
David Hale (North Melbourne):
Is still in a two-way fight with Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs
Josh Hill (Western Bulldogs): Has committed to a switch to Hawthorn. The two clubs will try and work out a deal.
Jonathan Griffen (Adelaide):
The Crows expect to trade him to Fremantle
Andrew Walker (Carlton):
Adelaide Crows have ruled themselves out of the race; Port Adelaide now favoured and Western Bulldogs also interested
Sam Jacobs (Carlton):
Adelaide and the Blues still in a deadlock. Crows say they have offered their round-two pick to Carlton
Bachour Houli (Essendon):
Still strongly linked with a move to Richmond
Shaun Grigg (Carlton):
Has expressed strong desire to join Richmond
Bret Thornton (Carlton):
Linked with a move away, possibly to Hawthorn
Matthew Spangher (West Coast):
Linked with move to Carlton
Setanta O'hAilpin (Carlton):
Linked to Sydney and Western Bulldogs but no offer on the table
Ben McKinley (West Coast):
Still linked to both North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs

Of the playesr listed who would make a real improvement to our best 22?

Discounting oldies, only Sherman looks a prospect and he isnt intersted in WA.

why Trade?

I agree with all this :thumbsu:
Premierships are made in draft week not trade week.

Just to take this in another light.

Chick and Stinga were traded in and both played a big role in winning us the flag in 2006.

The point I'm making is that you shouldn't simply discount trading so easily. If the right player comes along at the right time you trade.

This year it doesn't look like the right player is available so we will only trade out players who want out.

Sure the bulk of the list is drafted but trading in for needs or a special player is still important. More so to others than us I suppose but still important.

Exactly, Sherman would be worth consideration but not for pick 21 which is what Sydney was offering.

And I think the only other one worth considering was Krak, and the majority of the board was happy to get him if it didn't cost us one of our first 3 picks, which it would have, so no problems with not trading anyone in.

But we have made a **** up if we get nothing for Mckinley and Spangher and continue to keep numptys like Hansen, Nico and Bones on our list, the cracks are certainly starting to appear in our list management, esp given our imbalance of key position forwards and small forwards.

Surely we need another ruckman on our list and how Stevenson is not going to get a position on this list is beyond me.

You're a little late to the party mate...

yeah i know but there are alot on here who feel there is no hope and a lack of activity during trade week hasn't helped the cause.

i'm just saying "it's aiiiiiiiiiight"

Hansen should retire, Nico deserves a crack, Bones i know nothing about so can not comment. Spangher has zero value and i did think we would get some major interest in Mackinley but it hasn't helped that people are reporting that we will delist him if we can't trade him "hey why offer a pick will get him for free in the PSD"

Stevenson will get a spot if we don't get anything for Mckinley and Spangher.

Was anyone actually expecting something for Spangher?

Iam not sure about stevenson

but best outcome would be Pick upgrades for Mckinley and Spangher
If we could end up with 4 picks under 40 by onselling 45 & 62 and have pick 79 for Brennan, lose hansen and Bones we have room from Stevenson!

Would hope we could use Spangher and McKinley to upgrade pick 28 to a top 20 pick (hopefully top 15). That would be a succesful trade period, allowing us (again) 3 picks in the top 26. Still wonder why GS aren't interested in either in a trade, as both would be OK in their roles (KPD, fwd) for a new club? Heck, if we didn't have LeCras and Schfield neither of these blokes would be moving.

Plenty of players on our list we could trade. Lack of trading = Lack of ambition.

Le Cras, Hurn & ... none of the trade a no one for something of value. Unfortunate fact, other clubs dont share your view of the talent in wooden spoon territory.

Injured players dont have currency either.

Heard Marcos Ashcroft, Suns footy manager explaining player managers get the ball rolling on trades not clubs.

I can't believe people are still delusional enough to think we can upgrade our 2nd rounder to a first or 3rd to a second through Bmac or Spange, North are talking about pick 60 odd for Mckinley and Spange isn't worth more.

We won't be getting anything in return for these two that we will use.

Seems like we will trade both for nothing but list space and salary cap space. Wouldnt be suprised if 1 ended up having to nominate and ended up on someones rookie list the way things are going.

I think everyone `s getting desperate and beginning to clutch at straws.

Don't be stupid mate, we'll probably pick some nuff nuff in a wheel chair with how we are going. I have never in my 20+ years of following this club become so disillusioned with what we are doing, who we are recruiting and our selection or players.
You're disillusioned because we aren't picking up overpriced rejects from other clubs?

Ok then...

Oh please.

Imagine the rampaging premiers last weekend:
Out: ...In:
Jolly ...Fraser
Brown ....Wood

Sssshhh ... ...

They were having a tilt at the premiership... I think St kilda/hawks and even Adelaide/Freo should be right on the trade gravy train atm.

This is similar. The only trading eagles could do is for a young talent who will still be around in 5 years like Rich but there isn't any bar Tambling

This isn't a good year for trading. If the Eagles come out of this period with nothing to show for it, thats not a bad thing.

You think what the club is doing is brilliant. What a surprise.

If we do no trades then your on here saying that that is the best and only thing to do and this is a "bad year for trading" (without any explanation as to why it's any different to any other year) and we are better off not getting involved and bagging and arguing with posters who say we should be more involved.

If we traded 10 players out you would be on here saying that that is an act of genius and it's the best year ever for trading and that it was the best outcome ever and calling anybody who has doubts about it a traitor.

Whatever the club does you would be on here saying how brilliant it is. There is no independent thought or intelligence behind any of your opinions. Just a desperation to see everything that happens as the bestest thing ever.

We should have plenty of money, plenty of playing opportunities, plenty of spots on our list and plenty of leverage on other clubs if we can convince a player to come as we have pick 1 in the PSD. I am not saying we should be definately doing deals no matter what the cost but we should right in there seeing if we can get a quality young player for unders given all the variables that we have in our favour this time. When you finish further up the ladder you have all these variables going against you.

Not saying we should buy something no matter what but i am very disappointed that we are so content to sit on our hands and waste the opportunity we have. We should be in there shaking the branches and seeing what falls out. Not surprised though. The whole club is complacent these days.
