FFS, these trade weeks are getting more and more complex. Poor Johnny doesn't know what he doing come trading for players and picks now its clear to see...neither do I for that matter.

PS: How did we exactly improve our list this week ?

a tad pointless although it gives us some flexibility in future years when a third round pick could be in the late 30's....

We traded a pick we weren't going to use for a pick we will use in a future draft.

Smart move. Nice to get something out of this week.

Was hoping we'd see Brandon Matera's name tossed about; Maybe we could have packaged a player with a pick to entice a trade for him. Maybe we did, who knows. I'd like to think we'll make a big play for him next year.

Really clever trade by West Coast.

We weren't going to use pick 45, so we've traded it for a pick which in a few years will be around pick 35. So we've basically received Pick 35, for nothing. And we can use it whenever we want :thumbsu:

WCE were a bit padestrian at the table this year, i'd have thought since Woosha said he'd shake things up over the pre-season that he'd well... shake things up a little at the trade table. Maybe package pick 4 with someone to GC for Matera/Swallow & pick 9? Something, anything, just to get the ball rolling over the offseason.

Fcuk me. Clayton just said that if GC want to use the PSD they can have up to first 8 picks, which he said wouldnt happen due to list space but said they may use first pick.

The AFL should just send them a few premiership cups now and be done with it...

I think the compensation picks can be used anytime in the next 5 years, I think we will wait until GC and GWS finish pillaging the next couple of drafts before using it.

The compensation pick will be used in either the 2012,2013 or the 2014 drafts and will be anywhere from picks 38-55. Im not certain whether it is determined on collingwoods draft position at that stage or ours. Im pretty sure its collingwood's but im not 100%. Likely to be somewhere between 42-55.

Is it not an end of 3rd round pick?

We should keep Spangher on our list and delete Hansen for crying out loud, im sure we have enough in the cap to cover Hansen's pay.
1. Hansen may well be flicked before the PSD
2. Spangher doesn't want to play for us - he won't re-sign.

i was under the impression that pick 1 in the PSD is definately ours.

I dont think gold coast get that pick.

I will be gutted if we get shafted by GC in the PSD.

He signed a one year deal this time last year didnt he?

Surely he must realise now that his position as an AFL footballer is precarious (couldnt even get a donation trade like mckinley) and his best chance at continuing is with us?
i think he's good btw, schofield's cracking year just caught him out

I can see Spangher going to a Carlton or Essendon in a McKinley-esque token trade, otherwise he'll go before the ND to nominate.

Hansen to be shafted before the PSD to upgrade Stevenson or roll the dice in the PSD.

Would rather use pick 28

Trade week's over, buddy.

Hansen to be shafted before the PSD to upgrade Stevenson or roll the dice in the PSD.

Upgrades have to happen by the first list lodgment, so by the time Hansen gets cut (if it happens) it'll be too late to upgrade Stevo. If he's still around by the PSD we could pick him up. There may be better candidates available for that spot though - possibly Gamble or Blight.

shit, so we missed our chance to upgrade stevo?

sometimes i really wonder what our club is thinking...

here is a guy who's been on the rookie list for a few years, he improves enough physically to play AFL. he does well enough for a first year player. he is young, he can run and kick...yet we decide to keep nicoski/hansen/bones/lynch on the list instead.

makes me sick really. the guy can play, i'd be spewing if another club picked him up before we were able to (/or we just didnt pick him at all).

Steady on, there's still delistings to happen yet. Having traded away pick 45 though you'd think we've got a fair idea who we're going to get rid of.

Interesting times for Spangher - I haven't done the research into it but gut feel tells me that players who decide they're getting out and fail to get any interest in trade week have very little chance of being picked up in any of the drafts.
