Anyone swung by the Richmond Board and seen their opinion of Kenneth? A real head shaker.

He's exactly the sort of player they've been screaming out for since Gas' knees went.

Yeah, I read that thread. None of them appear to know the first thing about Kenny, and several appear to absolutely hate him for reasons unknown.
To be fair, though, the last time they may have seen him play was that ridiculous game last season where we lost to them and Kenny took several grabs in the 40-50 meter range only to register 2 points for his efforts, failing to even make the distance on about 4 occassions.
Also, if he was to move to Richmond, I'm almost certain they'd turn him in to the kind of crap player their supporters currently think he is. It's Richmond.

Waite would be a fine acquisition. How would we feel though if Jericho suddenly stopped being a marshmallow with a move to Carlton? He would blossom if he did.

How can it stink of favouritism if you can't find anyone for Ken to replace?? He has just been a victim of injury. When he ws in this year he has marked well but lacked pace, maybe due to his own injury. But Nick Gill has made it hard to replace him. The only spot for Kennie is where Roo is playing and his return has effectively cut him out. Bock and Stevens have made the back spots safe so there is no room for Ken. Sorry.
IMO, McGregor should have replaced Mattner last week. Kenny is best suited to FF to give a contest, so there is room for him & Gill. Gives us a good structure IMO & better flexibility with our KPP's.

Classic. It's typical Richmond. I especially liked the comment "We need young players not a player who in five years ready to give the game away".

So they think their 20 year + rebuild will go on for at least another 5 years. Brilliant.

Yeah i'm starting to think we need an extra tall up forward. Maybe time to bring in Kenny.

Teams who think you need to tank to win a flag are kidding themselves. Crap culture IMO.

Whilst I don't particularly like our cross-town rivals, I can't recall them needing to get a priority pick to rebuild after the flag. We haven't & shouldn't head down this track either.

trade bait at our club this year I recon are..

Meeson
Doughty
McGregor
Perrie
Jericho
Hinge
Mattner

we realy need a top 10 pick & hope for Brad Ebert obviously

I wouldn't put Hinge in that group. I've been convinced of late that he should be safe next year given we are looking towards youth.

Yeah im not sure man, I know hes been in form for Glenelg of late but still hasnt even managed to be an emergency, If hes cut I dont think anyone else would pick him up either. Its a decision out of Hinge or Campbell to be cut, its going to be a hard task for delistings this year even with roos departure..

I highly doubt Campbell would even be considered a potential delisting.

Perrie to retire or be delisted.
Hinge probably safe.

The others sound about right though. Maybe add Biglands to the list.

Gee that's an interesting package. It's not without risk (Meesen may end up a great running ruckman and if we have as many talls injured as this year we may miss Kenny's back-up) but having said that I'd do it for sure.

Is it fair? I think WB are the only obvious option for this trade as Richmond and Carlton unlikely to give up pick 2 or 3, Melbourne don't need these types of players desperately enough for their pick. Bulldogs next in line and they are the one lower ranked club that could rocket up the table with a solid tall forward and emerging ruckman to compliment their talented mid-sized brigade. Seems a perfect fit both ways but i just wonder if they will baulk at pick 5. Love to hear what Bulldogs fans think, have you posted it on their board?

I think it's a reasonably fair trade, although I don't know much about what's available in the draft. I guess it depends how willing we are to give up pick 5. I think McGregor is probably the best available of the KPP players likely to be on the market, and would like to see him at the Dogs. I've found the Crows selection or otherwise of him over the last year fairly odd. Don't know much about Meesen, don't see many Norwood games in Melbourne, but interested to know what you guys think.
There's a lot of talk about Jordan MacMahon wanting to go back to Adelaide on our board, and I would think you guys would be the more likely destination than Port if that were so. Despite his poor form at the end of the season he is still a very worthwhile player. He was one of our top 5 in the first half dozen games of the season but his confidence disappeared and his kicking deserted him.
So I wouldn't be surprised if we have some interaction with you guys during trade week one way or the other.

I think Hinge should be the first youngster off the list. However, if the club is serious about a 'youth policy', I wouldn't mind giving him another year. He seems like he could be a solid player, but I doubt he could ever go beyond the level of a player like Doughty.

A lot of us are a little perplexed by the non-use of McGregor.

If he is going to be traded, Bulldogs is where I'd like to see him; much rather than than seeing him run around in a Power or Pies team.

Has superior speed and is a good size...you never know.

Meesen and McGregor for McMahon and we exchange first round draft pick.

The Western Bulldogs have pick 5 so if we exchange that pick with our first round pick (10 – 17) and we could have a deal.

WB gets – Meesen and McGregor and our first round draft pick (10 – 17)

Adelaide gets – Jordan McMahon and picks 5

Breaking the deal down: John Meesen and Ken McGregor packaged together would be worth pick 5 (IMO) and Jordan McMahon would be worth a first round draft choice.

Funny, I was going to post the same.

Reckon it would be a win/win for both clubs, as Bullies get 2 talls they need.

Sounds reasonable.
So you know it'll never happen:rolleyes:

Just on the subject of trades, I went to the Port match at AAMI stadium last night and ran into one of my contacts.

He says that the AFC players up for trade will be Meesen Jericho and McGregor.

He claims that Meesen and Jericho to Carlton is a done deal, with a lot of interest in McGregor from Freo, Carlton, Richmond and the Bullies.

Apparently a bit of a rift has developed between McGregor and Craig with K-Mac feeling that he is getting a poor deal from Craig.

Mattner is a possible but unlikely trade, unless we get very good value for him.

So, it looks like we will be very active in this year's draft, with Craig reluctantly accepting that it's a necessary part of developing a footy team.

Targets appear to be a good mid-fielder or a draft pick low enough to snare Brad Ebert.

Interesting times ahead.

how reliable is this source? what is this persons strike rate in these predictions?

No joke, as if Kenny is not in our best 22 players. I guess its structure but you'd still feel a bit peeved off, after all the favours they did Perrie when he was playing poo and he got kept in the side week after week, now McGregor is playing really well in SANFL after being in or close to our best each week he played in the crows this year and he cant get a game  Sure, who do you drop? but it stinks of favouritism (not that I'd ever be guilty of such a thing ;)).

It hurts but the trade mentioned above would be gold, I would cry myself to sleep for a year though, can feel the tears welling up just thinking about it.

Not any more was once however you get the impression that even if Stevens or Gill got injured and we advance he would not get picked and only one person has the answer to that and thats Craigy

I think that deal is pretty good. Bullies pick up Meesen and McGregor and remain in the first round of the draft. Their ruck stocks are bolstered and they get some instant benefit with McGregor helping their KPP stocks.

Adelaide get some extra leg speed which we need and we move up in the draft order to snare someone of the quality of Ebert or Palmer.

Id love to keep K-Mac and Meesen, but in the interests of squad balance, I think I'd do that trade.

I actually missed this post Mac. It's a very good, insightful one too.

Have you any idea whether Meesen + Jericho will be packaged up or traded individually, if the trade were to go ahead?

I think we'll get a much better deal for Kenny Mac than most would expect. Wouldn't be sad to see him go, as I think he deserves to be playing at an AFL club somewhere. Certainly there would be plenty of clubs crying out for a KPP like Ken.

He spoke as if it were a package, but that might have been my interpretation of what he said.

McGregor will hold very good currency IMO in a trade. I can't think of too many other KPP's who can take a contested mark who might be on the market.

4 clubs are interested which should ensure good value if we do go ahead with the trade.

Disappointing for the club to lose K_Mac Macca. Still if it is in the best interests of the AFC we should be looking at it.
