The Lions got a End of 1st Round 1st Round Comp Pick.

Congrats AFL making the League look like a Massive Joke
Take the blinkers off Dave.
They're struggling and the AFL needs to/should do something.

They did F**k All for Melbourne when they asked for one.

Lucky they not in the VFL as they would be Booten from the League.

Why award a club being Absolutely a Joke

They over compensated them for losing Frawley, that was their Compo.

Don't need to gift another top 20 picks plus what happens IF that Pick turned out to be a Bust?

They are in a far worse position Melbourne ever was, they are gonna need more than a late teens pick.

That might point. The Pick is not needed. Need to fix stuff that is Broken

l think this pick is given so they get a good mature player. and there high 1st rounder, for one the best kids going so they don't have
to give it a way

So how about they give them the Pick but like the Mini-Draft they have to Trade it for a Older Recurit

they trying to do that dave but it goes hand in hand. on and off the field. need to do both

they need some quality , not people on there last legs. as much as many do not want to admit to it, we need a strong comp
and that includes queensland clubs doing well

Off-Field should be 1st as then that Translate to On-Field
if they have success on the field as well, it can totally help there off field as well. the afl at the moment
is making sure of both

I get where you're coming from Dave and I'm not a fan of rewarding mediocrity either, but they've made a lot of off field changes in recent years to the extent that it's an AFL backed regime in most of the important positions (Swann, Noble, Fagan) that means the AFL aren't handing it out to the group that made the mistakes.

Pick 3 would have been ridiculous and would have prompted a different response from me, but I'm okay with 19 as it isn't over the top and encourages smart selection/recruiting.

I know it's probably easier for the AFL to give them a draft pick but they should have helped them with their facilities. They aren't even reserve grade standard apparently. As much as I dislike the Lions instead of hand feeding them talent which they barely keep how about looking at upgrading their training ground so they can look at helping the talent they have right now. That would be the way to go IMO.

The AFL's already given them 5 million towards new digs and are helping them obtain the rest from government funding. Interesting we allowed Swann to access the Holden Centre to gain ideas, it's not something I think we should be doing.

The AFL has committed $5million and, after meeting with the club last week, has now reportedly agreed to help with the Lions' negotiations with local, state and federal governments to get the remainder of the money.

The club has been particularly proactive over the past six months, closing in on partnerships with the Multicultural Development Association and Australian Catholic University that will see them share the airport site with the Lions.

Lions CEO Greg Swann took a delegation of ACU officials and office bearers from their other partners, migrant settlement agency MDA, on a fact-finding tour of AFL clubs Collingwood, the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne on Friday.
