My first computer was a no name that I had assembled to my specs after reading up on the latest chips etc.
It had Pentium II processor, Win95B, 1Gb HD, a soundblaster card that you could plug keyboards and turntables etc into.
Had the latest youbeaut SDRAM, this was a top of the range computer.
I had never touched a computer and didn't know how to type.
I decided to learn about computers after the library got rid of their tickler boxes and moved onto computers.
Had no idea where any key was haha.
Them's were the days.

Great to see Apple Stand Up over this Joke Laws

Not great Dave. None of the big Tech are great.

Maybe if they monitored and changed their algorithms so that children are not harmed or bullied, then they would be great and no need for these laws.

I get that kids should most likely not be on Social Media but why does everyone else who is 16+ get Punished for it?

Agree get rid of the algorithms and just have what you have looked up like on YouTube don't need the Video Suggestions on the Side of the Video you are Watching.

Most Ads on Social Media are Pointless and not Needed

I occasionally search for childrens content.
For my young daughter. Ads are normally aimed for adults on these kids channels.

Could Ads come from the Stuff you Look Up which won't be Kids Stuff?

It could be although the content is not normally what I would watch.

Ads are 100% needed. It's the cost of "free" content. Youtube has a right to make money. If you don't like ads, you can pay to not have them via a youtube premium subscription. Not different to a premium account on BF.

Forums became ghosts as people migrated to big tech social media.

Just need to stop big tech companies from controlling it.

Big newsgroups where you could meet up with like minded people.
Lots of little widgets to play with.
Dial up where it could take all night to download an MP3
Free websites where you could build your own.
Anyone remember Angelfire etc?
Now it's all about squeezing the last bit of data out of people, everything is about making the big tech companies even richer.

I 1st used the Internet in 1996 when I was in Grade 5

I do remember Dial Up and Can lose Connection when someone rings you

Had to ask my Parents IF I was allowed to use it
