Also it seems an almost certainty that Everitt won't be in the RW&B. Shame.

Disappointing, iIthought a Half forward line of Hill, Grant, Everitt would have been a massive improvement and held you in good stead next year. I don't know alot of the Doggies reserves form how ever.

I know... He played 16 games for the blues last year for a massive return of 1.4 scoring involvements per game. At our club, that puts him on a par with Addison and Williams.

Everitts 2.0 scoring involvements per game put him way ahead, and Everitt is 3 years younger.

I think this guy is Nathan Eagleton mark II, only not as good.

Cordy can't even get through a season of VFL reserves and is still nursing a busted shoulder. He's also completely undersized.

To ask him to compete at the highest level is a recipe for disaster.

Unless we trade in another experienced ruckman (and what's the point), Will won't be going anywhere.

Gilbee and Hargrave should be shopped.

Boyd and Cross don't belong in the same team together but we wouldn't dare disrupt the fabric of the team by moving one of them on

Hill probably won't be there next year, same with Everitt.

We should be trading for draft picks, unless a player is available that fits our needs (Dujerrkera).

No fringe hacks from dud sides
(WC, Brisbane etc).
As opposed to fringe hacks from top sides?

I havent paid much attention to Walker, but I think Everitts disposal is better, and of course he is taller and 3 years younger. At 100 games experience already, I cant see Walker getting any better, but I reckon Everitt will be pretty good by the time he has played 100 games.

I completely agree, Everitt has been handicapped to a certain extent by his lack of game time and the way he has been used when in the team. I think he has a much greater upside than Walker. Both, to a certain extent, are a poor mans version of Goddard (as noted elsewhere) but I think Everitt is more likely to get closer to that standard once he gets more games under his belt.

It looks like we will lose him though. . . .

I just wonder how much GWS having access to uncontracted players next year plays this year on what we do and other clubs do.

E.g If Everitt is not traded this year then next year the GWS could take him, and based on the compo deals so far I think teams might be looking to trade now than get shafted by the compo process. The Harbrow compo was a joke.

So players with just 1 year contracts may well be the ones traded a lot this year. If I was one of them I'd try and stay put and see what GWS might offer after a good year.

Someone on DT board said Everitt wanted Gold coast, which I can certainly believe, and that GC will only make a 'take it or leave it offer' I suppose their 2nd round since they would be unlikely to part with pick 11. That would be one pick or so away from Harbrows pick in the 28-30 range.

The only realistic trump to that in terms of picks would be the Saints 1st rounder - 24/25. They are partial to a trade and expressed interest last year.

Well, West Coast are on record as saying that they are prepared to trade pick 4 if the right offer came along.

How about this deal:

Everitt + Josh Hill + Stack + Our end of first round compo pick

FOR

Their pick 4.

Essentially we would be swapping 2 talented fringe players who have played a number of senior games, plus a smokey, plus our end of first round pick for 1 high pick...

I cannot believe Eade. Trading Everitt is simply idiotic.
Playing Johnson, Eagleton, and Hahn ahead of Everitt was just fxxxxxn mystifying.

Has Everitt slept with someone's partner?

Did you watch the Essendon game in round 22? He was given the opportunity to win a spot in the side for the finals. Watch the replay and watch how lethargic and half hearted his efforts were. You'll even hear the commentators talk about how he has to work harder. Does he have talent? Of course but besides his first season he just hasn't shown it. And people say its because he isn't given a permanent spot, but I'm not sure I'd like to see people get continuous game time based on talent rather than performance. He's had so many chances to earn a spot but he just doesn't bring his dinner to the table.

Totally agree with this.

I am amazed at how posters keep demanding extra allowance for Everitt but we get so much negative for other players through the year.

It got worse Tim Callan ahead of him in a final

If you dont suit Eades way your gone just ask Farren Ray that

As it should be.

If you have a leader who has done the job - and you cannot possibly argue against that - then he must have the full support to create the team that he wants. Not what supporters want.

Using Farren Ray as an example is just crap. He was JUST a bulldog who couldn't kick when he left us. Please tell me what Eade did wrong to him! Good luck to him now - he has taken his second chance and I am happy to see him succeed.

Everitt - doesn't go hard enough. He had 7 games at the start of the year and didn't take his chance. He is also the one putting his hand up. So what is the MC to do. Have a player stay who doesn;t want to? No, you make the best of the cards dealt and get what you can for him.

Hill has had his chance and I think he needs a new environment to show his best.

I haven't seen enough in Stack to persist - may be premature but he is so far behind about 28 other players that it is highly unlikely he will take any significant steps with us.

We need changes to be back in the top 4 next year - and some luck with injuries. We know that the team that we have cannot win us a flag so we have to take our currency - Stack, Everitt, Hill, Minson and use them to get what we need.

I think Eade is in a difficult position. The team isn't at a total re-build stage....the premiership window is still ajar but we need to change our team's structure significantly. An injection of pace has to be the priority which means we need to consider trading players with obvious ability but lacking the specific traits we are looking for.

Players like Everitt become expendable in this situation. He hasn't established himself, doesn't appear to have made a position his own, appears to lack the drive to succeed, and won't tear apart the fabric of the club if he is dispensed with. Importantly clubs see him as having plenty of upside so he becomes a useful pawn in acquiring the type of player we need to recruit.

Personally I dont have a problem with moving some eggs on to make the omlette (actually that doesnt make sense, but anyway), but I think some of the players we are looking to get into the place are a puzzle.

For a change of pace, it looks like the Swans have a plethora of small forwards and are looking to move Vezpremi. Can someone tell us about him?

Just heard that apparently Sherman to Richmond is all but done. Also has anyone else heard this rumor, was apparently in one of the papers on the weekend. Josh Drummond apparently wants out and has been linked to the dogs. Also heard that he has agreed to terms with Bris. Would love to have him off a back flank.

I think you've summed it up beautifully - we're all just guessing.

Chinese whispers, rumour, hearsay, a friend's uncle's cousin's half-sister told me this about that player - welcome to AFL trade season.

only problem with your theory is that Callan was good in the final and shouldn't have been dropped.

Ray is still crap although I was amazed that he did a tagging job on Swan and did it well. Still can't use the ball well and our gameplan needs good ball use (hence us constantly calling out Cross and Boyd.)

They would be stupid if they even considered that. A bunch of fringe players does not equal a pick 4.
