To go for a left field selection here, I want Jack Steven of St Kilda,

Unproven in a sense, but hard at it and very, very good at what he does. Don't care if it costs a top 10 pick or even Colin Sylvia.

This is someone hard, but also of the right age. His skills leave a bit to be desired, but hard nosed youngsters is what we need.

Look, I know I'm on your board, but you have to realize what the value of Dangerfield is to the Crows. I absolutely appreciate you would feel Trengove is more the player you'd want, but Dangerfield is held in enormously high regard by the Crows.

So, that'd never happen. But there might be other players that would be trade options. We'dnhave no interest in Rivers, but Maric or Morton or Strauss could be options. We'd also potentially have experienced players we could offer such as Reilly or talls such as McKernan or Ivan Maric.

Dangerfield is deservingly held in high regard, unfortunately for him he hasn't been able to pull it all together yet.

Hopefully last game was a sign of things to come. He could be an unreal player or simply an average player who plays the occasional blinder.

I suggested Lisle in a thread where a Hawks fan asked about what we'd want for Warnock. Supposedly the Hawks rate Lisle, maybe they'd take Warnock & a pick or pick upgrade for him. (i.e. Warnock & pick 14 for Lisle & pick 23). This could work if they really want a kid who'll be mid 1st round pick.

At the beginning of the year I would probably have been keen for such a trade to happen. Warnock ticked what we needed, a big bodied defender, who has some decent athleticism.

Currently, I'd actually say that a KPD is not in our criterion anymore. In fact, next year it might be hard to fit them all in, with the emergence of Lisle as a strong marking key defender/forward, Schoey developing nicely, and Stratton and Gilham still to come back.

Might be a bit farfetched, but if Sylvia is on the market, I'm sure Clarko and the recruiting department will chase hard. Although whether we have the picks or the money to fit him in is another question.

I was laughed at earlier in the season for asking why we didn't go for someone like Myles Sewell. We need some experience in the midfield while our youngsters come along. I still think we could get 1 or 2 'cheap' VFL/SANFL/WAFL midfielders next season. When Moloney is shut down, we get exposed far too easily in the midfield. Some experienced and harder bodies would come in handy.

I even started a thread and got flamed for it.

We have a better version called Jack Viney coming our way!

Not against the thought of throwing Col's name up if he is trying to play hard ball on the contract front. If you give, but you have to expect to recive it.

Paddy Ryder - forward target

I don't think we really need a player who doesn't consistently put in 100%. Ryder is rated purely on one game he has played, and he's failed to live up to expectations ever since that game.

A younger version of Sylvia. Is a good player without being a great player. But someone who can tear a few games to shreads every year and have everyone wishing they could do it on a regular basis

It'll be interesting to see how Dangerfield goes now that he has a different coach behind him. I've always heard Adelaide supporters moaning that he isn't being used in the midfield, he was thrown in the midfield on the weekend and played a great game.

Dangerfield did strongly infer that he would consider his options if Craig was sacked- so he may be available... (apologies if already said)

Opinions on Clinton Young? Looks to be on the outer for the Hawks this year with Smith replacing him. Has a booming kick and legs, just hasn't been all too fit or as good as he was last year.

Xavier Ellis could also be up there during trade week, although I hope not. Has shown that he still has talent in his past few weeks and is starting to get fit.

Tough back pocket, 25 years old, plays in a similar style to Matthew Whelan.
these are types of players that will help without breaking the bank.

Agree. Thought he was older.

He would be cheapish in terms of trade and salary and would fill a massive need in the backline. Provides run and a kicker from our back half.

Might free up a Grimes and Tapscott or both if Strauss miraculously makes it.

Happy to part ways with Maric or Strauss.

Not this shit again

Strauss has done nothing wrong since coming into the team. He has played around 10 AFL games.

he has been better than the captain at least

certainly looks more comfortable now than he did in his first few games, i think we should take a look at anyone age 25 and under (who isnt a ruckman) its time to start making the senior players earn there games

Totally agree. I'm not sure why Strauss gets no love, while everyone bows down to Tapscott. I love the Bull as much as everyone, but he does get goals kicked on him. Both are playing in a backline in a team who has the most F50 entries against in the comp. Both are young kids learning the game and still feeling there way at this level.

Yes, Strauss has at times looked lost in defence, but who hasn't in our backline? I still feel he can turn into a Suckling/Birchall type of player for us. Does have good skills, especially by foot. His weakest part of his game is the 1 on 1, but gametime at this level is the only way he will improve on that. We should definitely be keeping players like Strauss in the side for the rest of the year...

Surjan can kick of course, I was just meaning in terms of that kind of backman.

Nuggety and tough.

No need to make assumptions, I don't have to spell everything out for you do I?

Comparing any player to Bartram doesnt say much does it.

Yes, Surjan is a much better kick but also has a gear higher than second. Dash is what we need coming out of the backline.

Dash out of the backline is definitely something we need, hopefully Bennell can get his head out of his ass.

Surjan may well be an option.

Orly?

If only everyone had this type of sense. We're too quick to jump on the backs of kids that aren't even living away from their parents yet.
