Analysis Trades that didn't work out for the player

With the Gibbs trade seemingly backfiring on him, what are some other trades that didn't work for the player?

Wrong club, wrong time, wrong coach ect

trent croad and tarrant to Freo. Croad didnt really want to be there and was quickly shipped back to the hawks. Tarrant actually did quite ok at freo, was a serviceable backman. But still wanted to go back home.

Clearly not gonna regret the move and he's ended up a better player but it is funny that Howe left Melbourne because of the promise he would play mid forward like Jack Gunston only for bucks to also realise he was s**t there and send him back

3 Lions on that list, even with us Longer and Wood were spuds, Leuenberger played over 100 games for us and was serviceable/OK at best.

Preuss going from #2 behind a 31 year old to #1 behind a 28 year old was... interesting.

From our perspective Brad Ebert is the only player that things have really worked out for. Sinclair also going ok at the Swans. Scott Selwood, Matt Rosa, Ben McKinley, Koby Stevens never really hit great heights.

Sharrod Wellingham went backwards coming in. Was part of the mid/fwd rotation at the Pies and ended up playing half back for one good season in four before being delisted.

Tarrant was more than serviceable. He was struggling in the forward line so free played him down back where he was able to grow into the position. Once he got the skills he went back to Collingwood and played in their winning premiership.

Actually croad got a premiership after playing for freo. Maybe there’s something in that.

Rosa left after we shafted him in the prelim and grand final after he played a blinder in the qualifying final. Selwood injured. McKinley a spud one season wonder. Stevens always concussed.

Pretty sure Tarrant missed the premiership, went back in 2011.

Jason Ball immediately jumps to my mind, he went to Sydney - and won a premiership (not many have done that with two clubs) against the same club he won a premiership with.

Craig Turley
Chris Heffernan, Gary Moorcroft and Justin Blumfield also spring to mind.

Tom Gillies was another. Was somewhat rated at Geelong but behind the likes of Scarlett in the pecking order and was sought after by the Hawks who were pretty thin for KPD at the time. The trade fell through and he crossed to Melbourne as a DFA the following season he was never seen again after peak Apocalypse Neeld when we lost by 148 against the Dons at the G. Despite him copping a lot of hate I always felt sorry for Gillies.
