I bounced this idea around on the Roar Power board - to a lukewarm response, mind you.
So in my ongoing (and inevitably fruitless) search for acceptance by the football community, I'll throw the idea in here as well, just to gauge a reaction from Tiger fans, and whoever else can be bothered ...
Getting In On The Carey Deal
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we are all in agreeance that if we are to benefit from this years draft and pre-draft, then we must be aggressive, and even slightly obtuse in our approach. That is, we might have to break ties with one or more of our previously-considered non-"expendable" types ...
With this in mind, I'll throw a name into the mix ...
Andrew Krakuoer.
Now before you all jump down my throat, let's look at his development, or lack therof, so far. Two years at the club. Around about 20 games in the ones, for just a handful of goals. And not too much else really. Compared to Rodan, Krakuoer has been very disappointing.
I know he is considered a long-term prospect, but he has shown very little so far, despite far more opportunity for far less output than the likes of Poyas, Pettifer, Ednie and Mills, to really back up this claim.
Being the son of a Roos legend, there's every chance that the boy will mean a bit more to them - sentimentally and romantically speaking. Even to the point that they might see him carrying a greater currency than he's actually worth to the other 15 clubs in the comp, including us.
So, how about we weigh in on the Carey to Adelaide deal. We offer the Roos Andrew Krakuoer - they pass on Carey to Adelaide - and the Tigers put in a play for someone like Steinglein, Perrie, Biglands, or someone else of quality that I haven't thought of. (I've said before that I don't rate Kane Johnson as highly as some others, but for Andy Krakuoer, he might be okay. At 24 years of age, is it a fair age trade anyway?).
Or is Krakuoer worth the risk ?
Can we afford to wait for him ?
Any other realistic suggestions to get in on the deal ?
