Well it's almost that time of year, you know when you support a team with heaps of room in the salary cap and seems to be making a move for every big name that's out of contract - AND NEVER PICK THEM UP!

So let's go through the motions again.

Which player do you think Collingwood should try and pick up, and why?

For me it's got to be Jimmy Bartel from the Cats. Strong inside midfielder, who would lighten the load on Licuria and Holland. Age on his side too.

Thoughts?

tenace and or kelly if both uncontracted, i think its some quickish outsiders which would serve us a lot better. just about any one of the hundred quick guns playing for the dogs would be tops too. salopek from port would be one to keep in the memory bank too.

If we get Kane Tenace, I give up.

Absolute rubbish footballer. Julian Rowe is better than him.

In the absence of any quality onballers I wouldn't mind us getting our hands on Beau Waters who is out of contract, the kid is hard as nails. And a straight swap of Cole for Tenace, both have had Barry Crockers in 2005.

but he can do the one thing that practically nobody is our team can do...run the ball quickly, and he looks great when he's on, just had a shocker of a year.

So he's already half a better player than Lockyer and Woey who both run the ball slowly and then kick it straight to the opposition! :p

The question is can we get a player who's had a bad season, and help him turn it around to have a good one?? seems the only time we can help a player turn his career around is if he's coming off a good season (and ends up going bad).

My main concern at the moment is our player development. The amount of kids we've had with "potential" who have now turned into trade/delist bate is worrying.

guys that we thought would be solid contributers by now are still strugglign for games, and have still just got potential. Did we misjudge them, or did we just not aid them enough in their development?

Kerr wouldn't be a bad get either.

What would you offer in return?

Kerr would be highly sought after if he was on the table. Essendon and Carlton would both be very interested. You won't get him for a bargain, and we wouldn't be interested in any trade involving Leon Davis. Kerr just got 34 touches against the Dockers so it's no secret that this guy is an absolute top-liner.

Waters is from SA and is highly rated by the Crows. He was discussed as a straight swap for Tyson Stenglein but WC weren't interested. That gives you an idea of how highly we rate him as well.

If any of these guys were up for grabs you wouldn't be the only club vying for their services so you'd have to offer something competitive. Remember, WC don't want Leon Davis. A young tall defender or draft picks would be the only thing of interest to WC.

Thoughts?

Id take a look at Polak - we have no developing key position backman (Maxy isnt big enough) now that Tex Walker has proven he is a complete waste of space.

I'd love Polak.

Would give up any or all of our WA four - Woey, Walker, Lockyer & Davis.

But they couldn't be that stupid. Surely.

Although, they are Freo.

Polak is top quality, Freo would be hesitant to flick him, especially for the four west aussies we have. Id take polak for tarrant any day of the week. Tazza would love the laid back WA lifestyle and they need more forward line dominance, he would be a perfect inclusion.
I too would gladly give up davis, walker and lockyer for him. I dont think we will get polak but he;'d be a top shelf addition.

Waters is out of contract so if we finish bottom we could sign him for nothing as an uncontracted player. West coast would not want to lose him for nothing and would settle for a second round pick. Thats what happened to us with Nick Davis, finishing bottom gives your club leverage come trade time.

Walker cannot be traded apparently due to that rule if you re-sign players you cant trade them in the same year.
Polak I wouldn't give up too much for him which is the problem. Freo would want a fair bit for them (although like Lenny said it is Freo!) and I am not a huge wrap for him.
Salopek would be a good get.
B.Waters would too but WCE won't let him go that easily, they rate him highly.

Not salivating at the thought of getting the spoon, but getting in position for a quick turn around. Interesting user name Lajon, sounds like a Phillipino toy boy, your supervised time on the net is almost over, time to go back to the prison cell, Bubba's waiting for you. :

Montagna, goddard, d mack (eagles)...all good players which we should have a crack at.As long as we don't use high draft picks for them
Goddard is rubbish, having said that, we already tried to get him and failed.

MacDougall is worse.
