Seriously people, he has clearly underperformed this year compared to recent seasons (incl his standout 2009 season)!

In all seriousness, let's trade him at seasons end and hopefully score a late first round draft pick from GC.

Please advise your toughts? What would Tambling really be worth???

There is no point trading him, like foley he is of far greater value to us then the rest of the comp.

Certainly needs a run at coburg

i am happy to go by Dimma's opinion of him and what the match committee think of the role he is given.

The same opinion that has kept him in the side all year.:thumbsu:

hard decisions need to be made and to the GC, for us he may have, to a degree, some sort of currency. Would take their second rounder maybe their last first round if we threw in say polo.

Got a strong feeling that this is why Dimma is playing him so much this year, that we're trying to play him back into form and see how much we can get for him.

Certainly hasn't derserved to play as much as he has this year, especially with our 'get as many games as possible into the kids' policy we're supposed to be following.

I don't think this is the way Dimma functions at all. Only have to look at Tuck, Mcmahon and morton to see he is a very straight shooter. You play the way i want and you'll be rewarded ala tuck. If you don't want to learn like Morton and Mcmahon then you'll sit in the ressies. Both those players have potential to have currency like Tambling.

He must be doing something right, something us fans don't see or understand, because i agree he has looked average and lost on the field, especially without the football, and needs a run in the magoos.

To defend Tambling, I'm pretty sure his pre-season was interrupted? He definately doesn't look as agile and quick as 2009.

He must be playing a specific role in the side, or you'd think someone like Nahas or Morton would have replaced him by now.

4th in last years B&F, few health/body issues over pre-season, probably having a 51/49 just pass for the year. Not good, but magnified by the all round rise by others.

Our other standard scape goats are playing well enough that they cant be bagged here, so it has to be someone, so it looks as though Tambo has drawn the short straw.

Speak for yourself.

I love his attack on the ball.

Said it before and will say it again, Tambling won't be the star we all hoped he would be back in 05-06. What he will be though is a good to very good player for the next 5-6 years. He'll play the role that is asked of him and will put his head over the ball when thats asked of him as well.

It should also be pointed out that he is coming off a very limited pre season, didn't start running until 2-3 months after everyone else. Hopefully a full preseason this summer will see him get back to the type of form he showed in the second half of 09 in 2011.

I've always been one of his biggest defenders on here peejay and when he has the ball 9 times out of 10 he does the right thing and hits targets. But his recent form is well down and watching him off the ball he is always a step behind the play.

But he must be doing something the coaches want because he keeps getting games and i don't think this coaching group hand out games to there favourites like the wallace era.

one thing he is doing is tacklig and i would assume thats what hardwick appreciates.

as peejay said, his attack on the ball is very good, just needs to work that little bit harder off the ball and think things through a little more.

The buck stops here. I am sick of people defending him. At his current performance level he is absolutely useless. Nearly anything he touches turns into an error.

The fact is he either picks up some form or ships off. You cant blame it on injury anymore because he is always carrying some kind of injury and is therefore injury prone. We cant carry passengers.

His performance today was pathetic, he is not a footballers asshole and has no football smarts. He does not know where to run, has deplorable decision making putting his teamates under pressure, struggles to mark because of his height, and is slow due to injuries. He is also ****ing weak, his tackles never stick and are easily brushed off.

I'm sorry but no player on our list riles me up more at this moment. You can bring out stats if you like to prove how good his skills are but they are flawed. They dont include a handpass or kick to set up a team mate, or one to a shit area of the ground.

I pray and hope he improves and his a best 22 player. But for christ sake seeing people defend him year after year really pisses me off when he deserves NO praise whatsoever right now.

Anyone can attack a football. His tackles are pissweak and never stick and cause the opposition player to turn it over.

Like most I've watched every game this year, with all the melb ones live. In my opinion he's the one player who doesn't seem to have progressed as much with the rest of the group.

Yeah he goes in hard when the contest is there, but is rarely as part of our attacking plays, and often stops our momentum with a missed target or slow decison making.

Maybe playing him to get his value up is taking it a bit far, but I just can't see how he's played 13 games this year.

Desperately needs to get his confidence back, maybe Dimma thinks he's better doing it in the seniors, but it doesn't make sense when you got blokes like Post, Rance, and Gourdis who deserve a crack in the ones, and lots of other players who need the opp to see if they can step up before the cull is made at the end of the year.

If he's not fit then why is he in the ones? If he's not in form why is he in the ones? If Dimma's playing him on his merits then he seems to be getting marked a lot easier than some others blokes who have been dropped.

I don't think anyone has praised him in this thread.

What has been posted is reasons why he isn't playing as well as he was at the end of last year. Obviously Hardwick and co are pleased with what he is doing otherwise he would have been sent to Coburg a while back.

Geez, come on guys.

Who cares how one individual player plays? Aslong as we are winning matches, he lays lots of tackles and places lots of pressure on his opponent.

Those are 1% things that Damien Hardwick loves, I will leave Tambling's fate up to Hardwick, this coach is in control and his judgement would seem to be the accurate one.
