I thought he was de-listed... I know the difference but that's just what I heard.

At this stage, I think Meesen will be well worth going for, providing we don't have to give up a 1st round pick. If we can do it with a player +/- a 2nd round pick, he'd be worth it, IMHO. The chances of us getting a top flight ruck prospect with a 2nd round pick are slim indeed, as Kreuzer, McEvoy and Bellchambers will be gone by 28-33.

Meesen, while he hasn't shown anything yet, was a #8 selection in the same year Egan was #10. He was drafted higher than Cam Wood. We wouldn't want to overpay for a player who has only potential going for him, but he's better than what would be available in the second round, if they're looking at ruckmen for that pick.

You might lose some of your enthusiasm for Meeson if you venture over to the Adelaide board and read some of the stuff about him. (There's nothing sordid -- he just hasn't impressed many of them.) At this stage, Wood has a lot more currency than Meeson, who I'm not sure is a great tap ruckman, which is what we need. Wood is far more likely to fit this criteria. The real impediment to getting him will be how much he'd cost, assuming Brisbane are willing to let him go. He won't come cheaply.

25. Goes against the youth policy, and IMO, we'd have to give up too much to get him.

We should look at taking Ryan Murphy off Fremantle's hands. They refuse to use him. He is talented, quick on the lead and accurate on goal. They rarely use him due to Tarrant.
 
We should do whatever we have to do to lay our hands on a decent ruckman. Our second-stringers are an absolute joke. We need to trade for a ready-made ruckman and then draft at least one 18-year-old ruck in the national draft. We're going nowhere fast as long as we have our current ruck set-up. We rely too much on Josh, and even he isn't a tap ruckman. This has been an ongoing problem at the club. Nothing ever seems to be done about it. FFS, do whatever we have to get one of the surplus ruckmen from Adelaide, or North, or Brisbane.

How could you not agree with this. I have been waiting for an actual ruckman to be recruited since Monkhorst. Please Derek. Get a Ruckman.
 
Meeson would be a good pick up. Has the talent but has not settled in Adelaide. Coming home to a new set up with our development team could do wonders for him.
Moran fron North is another talented player who isn't getting a chance behind Mcintosh and Hale. Been playing some good football in the VFL.

The key to trading is not going for the superstars ie Charman cause you pay to much over the odds. You need to find talented young players who haven't settled or developed for various reasons. Hoping the change of scenery will do them good.
Meeson would be my number 1 target.
