Sydney were known as the Blood Stained Angels at some point? Essendon had a similar nickname..
Blood stained naggers.
We had one that's best not repeated
Well. It was this. But with a different vowel. Who'd like to guess where?

Apologies if deemed inappropriate, but hopefully people can see past the obvious shitheadedness of the era and see it as a little reminder of what actually was deemed appropriate in the days when many of these nicknames were given to teams. This was part of a bundle of ancient music books I picked up from somewhere way back, printed over a century ago in 1902 in Australia. The wtf double take I did when first seeing it nearly broke my neck..! We've come a loooooong way...!

Geelong were originally called the Seagulls for our first 20 years of existence, it's how we got our colours (blue being the Corio Bay and white being the seagulls).

This is untrue as before the War there was no Gold Coast Suns.

You are telling lies.
No. No. No.

There was definitely a Gold Coast team in the AFL around the time Franz Ferdinand got shot.

They just went by the nickname "Cocaine Lines."

The anti-vaxxer conspiracists want you to believe otherwise.

i will sue you for defamation you grumpy low life scumbag
It's not defamation if it's true. You can't read. Deal with it.

Back on topic, Freo were originally going to be called the Shitfish but they ran into copyright problems with the Miami Gridiron Team.

I know your lying. You know how I know? I'm about to tell you.

Franz fermidad was world war one. Before you said it was world war two. Lying persons.

Yep you bet
I'm sure I said WWI.

Edit: Yeah, checking on one of my older comments, I did.

The New World Order don't want you to know that Gold Coast have been in the AFL since the 1910s. It will stuff up their plans for world domination. ;)

Whoever's winning
I remember when Freo came in there was a great fear around Perth at the rumour they were going to call them the "Fremantle Doctors"...

So when they released the name "Dockers" everyone breathed a sigh of relief and didn't notice how lame it was.
