Unfortunately today at Albert Park a Marshal was killed following a colision between Ralf Schumacher and Jaques Villenueve.
Jacques Villeneuve and Ralf Schumacher had a huge accident on the approach to Turn 4 that saw Villeneuve's car fly through the air after running into the back of Ralf Schumacher which resulted in slamming into a concrete wall.
It is believed that a tyre went of Ralf's car and struck the Marshal. This follows a similar incident last year during the F1 Grand Prix in Italy when a Marshal died after getting hit with a tyre.
This is sad news for F1.
2 Deaths in 5 races is not a good thing for F1. It is believed also that his daughter was their with him and saw it happen. Although the car can protect the drivers, it can't protect the ones outside the car.
I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the Marshal killed today.
Without these brave men and women, there would be no motor racing. It is only thanks to their efforts in ensuring the safety of the drivers that our sport can exist at all.
