With my uni exams over I decided to give sleeping in a rest today and headed out to La Trobe University to catch the training session. Missed the first 20 mins or so because Google Maps sent me down the wrong street, but I caught most of it.

Hard to give too much insight as it's the first training session I've been to, so don't expect any ant555 like summary. I'll just give some of my random observations.

Players in the modified group included Lucas, Laycock, McPhee, Prismall, Davey and some others I couldn't make out from my vantage point. Lucas and Davey jogged laps for the first part of the session. Scotty still looks a bit proppy. Licha was just walking around and spent some time talking to Rama.

I didn't spot Neagle, Dempsey, Ryder, Jetta or Daniher at all, but I may have just missed some of these guys. Definitely don't think Ryder was training though, as I'm sure I would have spotted him. Hayden Skipworth was training with the main group as was the new Irish kid.

Bachar looks in tremendous shape and impressed me in one of the handball drills. His disposal and decision making in traffic was excellent.

Lloydy was being a great captain as usual and you could hear his voice booming over the top of the other guys. Very vocal. His kicking in some of the drills was terrific, never misses a target. Liked Reimers' kicking as well.

Gumby looks in terrific nick and moves very smoothly. Spike looked to be working very hard as well.

A lot of the drills seemed to be based on running and carrying the ball. For example, a player would receive the ball, run at full speed, take 2 or 3 bounces and kick to a target. This was kind of sloppy overall with a few shanked kicks and wayward bounces during the running part. Noticed that Lonergan made himself do some pushups when he made a mistake.

The players were also given some pointers and demonstrations on how to agressively guard the mark.

Knighter seemed to be in a happy mood. When he was participating in one of the drills I noticed he gave a little bump to Stanton as he fumbled picking up the ball.

Well that's all that springs to mind from today, might check training out again next Monday.
