great report aissassin. but the big question is, did you dip the tim tam into the coffee or not? are you a dipper son?

I have a different technique altogether.
I but a Tim Tam in half, keep it in my mouth and then take a big sip of very hot coffee.......then I let it all melt.......mmmmmmm

the best one I have heard of is with a chocolate teddy bear biscuit.

you bite one ear off & the opposite foot off (apparently) ..... place the bitten off foot in the coffee then suck the coffee up through the bitten off ear....

apparently mmmmmmm...... too bad I h8 coffee ........lmao

That is actually a the famous tim tam techniqie biting off diagonal corners......becuse the cream layer in the middle melts and you can basically use the Tim Tam as a straw until the harder outside layer absorbs so much cofee it turns to mush

Awesome report TA, thank you so much for your contribution! :thumbsu:

Hampson really sounds like someone to get excited about! looking forward to seeing him tear it up!

Waite should be used as a forward IMHO and this report suggests that that is probably the right way to go!

Just a question, did you happen to notice Russell out there @ all? Was he with the mids, forwards or defender? I'm curious as to what plans they might have for him this year!

I didnt notice Russell at all but I read another training report giving him a rap and he was in one of the forward groups.

I watched Hampson in the first pre-season intra club match last pre-season. He seems to have come a long way already in all aspects of his game as well as bulking up and his confidence.
I think he knows that nobody his size is going to be able to keep up with him if he runs hard to space and he will run hard to provide an option.
He is going to be near impossible to stop if he gets the chance to rest up forward and can time his leads.

Ahh the Tim Tam Slam!! (also great with Twix ;))

Thanks for a great report TA -you make us feel connected from the other side of the world :)

I thought that was with Bailey's, not coffee.

Thanks TA, bit far away to make it down to training these days, much appreciated :thumbsu:

I didn't see a mention of Gibbs in the reports (but I have been known to have poor comprehension.)
Was he in with the mids?

BRYCE GIBBS WILL BE BETTER THAN MURPHY... and i say this with you all understanding how much i rate and love Murf.

I to was at training and it was so interesting watching how the boys accustomed to the wet weather. Their skills were pretty shabby, but understandable for this time of the year, but the one bloke who stood out like a saw thumb was Gibbs. His skills/ decision making is so reminiscent of a Greg Williams. He is not the fastest bloke in the team, but his judgment, placement and timing is first class. There was so many occasions where in direct traffic where he could have taken the easy option, but instead he held on to the ball for that little bit extra and found someone in a much better position and hit them almost every time.

Hampson is going to cause so much havoc to opposition ruckman with his pace. There was one occasion where him and Jacobs were standing in the middle of the ground and there was a contest between the 50mtr line and full back and the guys had to cleat the ball. Hammo was about 2 metres further away from the contest towards the Heroes Stand and had to break out and lead to the Richard Pratt side. He not only passed Jacobs, but burnt him to the tune of 10 metres and took a nice mark on the wing.
His progression is really impressive, but when its kicking time i will still have to close my eyes for another year or 2 as it is so unpredictable and inconsistent, which is totally understandable.

Jacobs will not be at our club next year. Gone are the days of tall lumbering ruckman. He has no strings to his bow to suggest that he can cut it at AFL level. Not really that strong over head, speed doesn't excite me and enthusiasm is something that you would expect more from, especially someone that is trying to get onto a senior list proper.

CAIN bloody HACKLAND, WHAT A COMPLETE EMBARRASMENT to the CARLTON GURNSEY. At the beginning of the drills the boys had to do a handball drill with pressure from 3 guys with bags. It was time for Hackland to get his hands on the bags and put some pressure on the ball carrier. My god he looked like someone not wanting to get a bruise. He is by far the biggest sized bloke in our team and has the smallest pea sized heart i have ever seen. Then to make me cringe even more the next drill was lane kicking, he just stood at the back of the pack, hardly interested and kicking torpedo shots at goal. Totally individual and random, until he realised that he should be doing something and went over to the recover group who were standing out in front of Matty Lappin taking catches with a soaking went ball. He told Lappin to move out of the way and get into the catching group so he could kick the ball to them. Lappin looked at him like "mate im the fn coach here, who the fk to you think you are"… I felt almost embarrassed as a supporter that Chris Judd has to work with him throughout the year. I bloody hope not but anyhow our real ruckman are still to very young ATM. oh and then to add more salt to the wound when it came time to running 150mtr sprints (with Fev, who has only been running for 1 week and a half since the end of the season) he was consistently 3-5 metres behind. Sorry about that but i had to let out my frustration on a bloke who totally irritates me.

On to some more positive news, for those of you who have only ready reports on Special K, his ball handling skills below his knees are something you couldn't imagine from a bloke who in nearly 200cm. Rain and at times thunder storms, he looked like another onballer with precise skills and movement. I still liken him to a better version of Kosi, with Hammo and A. O'hAilpin being the ruck duo, but that's only my opinion so don't criticise me.

Andrew Walker from what has been told to me along with Andrew Carrazzo are having 2 sessions a week with Ratts our coach on KICKING. And you can tell especially with Walker as he is now slowing down and dropping the ball properly when it comes to the actual action. I personally think that he will be our biggest improver next year and will show to the rest of the AFL World that he was worth the number 2 pick finally.

Brendan Fevola was back to running again. As mentioned above was running 150s with Hackland and already his shape has improved, yes even since last week.

Judd... ill say it again CHRIS JUDD, upped the anti yet again - this time it was the distance more so than the pace. he ran consistent 800mtrs with 1.5min recovery in between. Like an article in the Herald Sun a few weeks back with Gibbs saying he cant wait to shadow Judd at training... I personally think that they should all have a session in this, just to see what real gut running is all about and what it takes to become an elite runner on the football field. Running 3km time trails is totally different than running 3km on the footy field and i would erg the coaching staff to give all the boys an opportunity to do this. Especially Andrew Walker, Jordan Russell, Bryce Gibbs, Marc Murphy, Shaun Grigg and Ryan Jackson.

Stevo will be a wonderful addition next year, but the one person who i think is the most under-rated at our club, Heath Scotland, is going to have another massive year next year. And personally a $20 wager on the Brownlow may go a long way. Laugh as you wish, but have a look at all the Brownlow votes from the last 3 years and i think he has topped them all. Please correct me if im wrong, maybe 1 year he wasn't but he has certainly been in the top 2, and with us hopefully winning more games next year, stranger things have happened. He just consistently knows how to get the footy, where to be and how to dispose of it with high class all the time. I can say that when we recruited all the recycled players i was most excited about getting Heath, and i think that that was possibly one of the best trades we have ever done.

Anyhow enough for now... I hope ive given you guys some info.

All the best

Go Blues

Gee and i was abused by that dimwit Audas for claiming Walker's kicking and decision making is shithouse... Maybe you should direct your anger at Ratten Audas he seems to think those two boys need some skill improvement

Anyway arguments aside good report and even better to hear those boys are getting extra skills sessions, if they improve on them Carrazzo could be a very good player and Walker could be a freak.

Also FWIW Scotland looks like an animal, you most likely won't win on your brownlow bet but he looks like he could be in for a big year.

Good times ahead, hopefully no hAckland and some fierce competition for spots in the team :thumbsu:

I didn't go, but from TalkingCarlton:

Aaron Joseph (TAS)
David Ellard (WA)
Haelen Kay (VC)
Lachlan Hill (VM)

are training with us.

Apparently Browne and Armfield have arrived and were supposed to be training today too.

Happy that those 4 boys are training with us prior to the PSD and rookie draft.

Thanks to all of you who did these great reports. It's very hard for me to get to training.......y'know, having to spend so much time on BF it's hard to get outside sometimes.:p

Any word on Grigg? He's one that seems to have slipped under the radar a bit from last year. For a top 20 pick and from what he showed towards the end of the year I'd expect him to be pushing hard to step up, but with the way we have recruited his spot will not be easy to keep.

thanx for the ace report
next time i would like to find out if ratten is continuallt playing waite in the backline drills and who hes trying down back... but ill probably pop down to training next monday
whos going on fursday

Excellent report and this in particular makes me very happy. All I can say is about time the coaches put heavy emphasis on addressing weaknesses of the players.

I braved the rain and watched the boys train, thought it was quite impressive.

I then stayed and watched the Bombers train on OUR ground for hald of their session.

Then as I left the Storm were doing 3k time trials outside
:O We are traitors! I feel so dirty...

I'm heading down next Tuesday so I might take a few notes during.
