So as I said, it is not unusual for a player to be given to the very last minute to prove their fitness in private behind closed doors.

Personally, my feeling is he will play.

Lol at anyone who thinks this is a ruse. How does a missing defender from our backline upset West Coast? Whether Reid plays or not would be completely irrelevant to West Coast, they'd prepare in the exact same manner.
Malthouse is far to professional to risk upsetting our preparation to play some supposed mind games with a team that's heavy underdogs.

Reid was seen limping on Wednesday, Cam Wood trained today to fill the emergency spot, Reid obviously didn't train and Watters acknowledged he hurt his groin.

I'm not commenting on whether he'll play or not, but get your head out of the clouds guys.

Im thinking he wont play, groin injuries are tricky,

However, didnt wellingham play most of the last years finals series with a groin injury?

If we never intended on replacing Reid with Keeffe, it makes sense. Maybe that's why Goldsack stayed in the side. My line of thought is that if we think Keeffe isn't up to playing finals yet, we can't just panic and throw to him now that there has been an injury

I think if Toovey goes to Darling, Tarrant to Kennedy, O'Brien (Brown maybe?) to Lynch and either Maxy or Goldy to the resting ruckman with the left over to play loose, then we might not need Keeffe anyway.

Not so sure Buckley will necessarily come in either. I reckon Fasolo will get the nod.

And there lies the problem, if Harry or Brown line up on Lynch the Weegirls will isolate that match up, Keefe must play IMO, he can play FB on Kennedy and Taz can take Lynch, not overly concerned about Darling at this stage, think our mid type defenders can stop him from having a biggie.

Over-reaction much?

Firstly if he a bit sore, why train outside in cold, slippery conditions and risk further injury? Maybe he needs an extra 24 hours to be fully fit.

And if he doesn't play we can adequately cover him, it's going to be wet so their big forward line won't be as effective anyway. Wood can come in as second ruckman and Leroy Brown can go back and will match up well on Lynch.

Mmm, consolation is he has only kicked 21 goals for the year, with only three hauls of 2+ goals (4,3,3).

He isn't a massive threat. Brown was okay when he played down back against Freo, he should hold his own against Lynch. He struggled against the Cats, but the same could be said for all our defenders that night. With the amount of ball they had coming in who could blame them.

This :thumbsu: will get crapped on

He will be ready because he has to be ready, we've discussed the main fwd matchups but consider Cox and NicNat rest fwd as well, we'll need height down there, i'm willing to back the big fella, if he doesn't play then we may have to play Wood IMO, one of have to come in, unless the forcast is wind, and plenty of it, wind will stuff a big man more than rain IMO.

Plays as a true CHF, thought he was clearly their best Fwd last time, they will go through him at every opportunity.

Aso, if browny plays on him who rucks?

I wish everyone would stop overreacting it does my head in.Reid hasn't done a hammy. It may well be precautionary due to hamstring tightness + the poor weather .You don't know anything for sure so why speculate.

Even if Reid doesn't come up, I wouldn't be worried if I were a Pies fan...

...so long as Leigh Brown isn't thrown into defence. If that happens, then grab out your copy of the 2010 Premiership DVD and relive the good times, cos they'll be over by Saturday night next week.

;)

This. Collingwood and WCE both know that this game can be won by WCE forward line or our backline if it comes down to it. I'm putting this one down as bs and is an attempt by collingwood to gain an advantage against WCE by hopefully getting them sucked into this rumour. If Reid doesnt play we have goldy and Macy to cover a key forward that Reid would. I wouldn't bring in keeffe because he just simple won't be accountable.

Why not just accept the fact that Reid is very unlikely to play tomorrow? Perhaps all those posters who abused the 'good doctor' who alerted us to the injury in the threads might like to apologise for their haste in killing the messenger.

Given Reid had played every game this year, I am surprised he was not rested against Geelong. Hawthorn's approach to their final game was very sensible. We may well be in trouble tomorrow. Goldsack is no substitute for Reid, unless games are won by kicking the ball out on the full or kicking torps.

At least if we go out in straight sets, there will be no further regret about losing Malthouse for Buckley.

Who is 'Macy'?

This reminds me of when North Melbourne supporters came onto our boards when we recruited Leigh Brown.

Then he won a premiership medal and they stopped visiting :o

It could be worse, we could have a combination of Hansen, Grima, Thompson and McMahon to do our bidding this weekend. The amazing backline responsible for leaking 260+ points in our two games this year.

:)

Mate before you go off about other peoples post worry about your own as he has a groin strain not a hammy.....

If Reid don't play, Goldsack is the next ideal match up for Lynch. He is more than comfortable following him around the ground.

Taz has to play on Kennedy all day.

Tooves will get Darling again and should beat him. He is not one that I'm personally afraid of. Toovey will own him when the ball hits the deck and he has the size to also beat him in the air.

The only headache/mismatch it leaves is NicNat. Now, there is no way known I want to see Leroy Brown in defence. Period. Will be interesting to see who gets the go on him but WCE will have just as many headaches on how to contain Cloke/Dawes/Brown at the other end so it ain't all doom and gloom.

We should still win this match and like everyone else I am expecting nothing less. The week off will be pivotal for us.

One would think Lynch would just out-muscle him all day long.

Kennedy has a massive tank and workrate so it will be a good test on Taz's ankle.

I would think Toovey or Maxy will have Darling more or less covered.

Actually, I think West Coast will be quite comfortable with Glass, MacKenzie and Schofield taking the talls (beating them on the otherhand is a different matter). It's the smalls I worry about, especially with McGinnity out. I get a feeling Kraks slipperiness will cause headaches.
