At the Player Sponsors dinner tonight Gale said that work will begin on the punt road oval expansion thing in 3-4 weeks

From then, we will train at Vic Park for the remainder of this year. Punt Road will be ready for preseason

Something to do with the seeding being best done in the winter months.

Hardly ideal, but a reminder that we have a way to go before we have an ideal setup

Shit! The Vic Park surface would be just as good as what we are training on now right?
My boy does Auskick at Vic Park. It is also an open park. punt road is superior

It has improved since Wallace days and VFL is played there often, but the lack of decent rooms and antiquated player facilities would mean most will leave and drive back to Punt Road after a session

Far from ideal for 2012, and it would have a LOT more traffic than Punt Road, but it is temporary

Anyone in a position to tell the rest of us more about the night ?
Went along. Amazingly had a meeting in Melb that coincided. Sat with my boys Tom D and Steve V. Had the Capt, Tucky, Axel on my table as well as the Chief. Had a good chat to them all. Richo and Browny hosted. Interviewed the Capt, Big Ivan and the Chief. I had my photos taken with my boys in the Locker Room.

Had a good chat to most of the guys. They are a great bunch. And I can thoroughly recommend player sponsorship. The players and club make you feel very welcome, and you get a jumper which all the players then personalize and sign.

If you wish to know about sponsorship re cost and value, just pm me. You might be surprised at how little it costs.

This is where the saying short term pain, long term gain fits. Poor Melbourne supporters cop it in a different way :p
Was about to type those very words! There is never a good time for this, but the inconvenience will be quickly forgotten once they are back.

More importantly its all part of the long term plan. Really liking what the club is achieving off the field at the moment.

Gee they are lining up some ducks for 2013!

You'd imagine they'd be training out of peak hour - so a 10 min drive up the road. Not a particularly arduous problem.

The thing I like about this is that they are looking to the future still. Bit of pain now and when we are likely to be contending we have great training facilities - pretend MCG and pretend Docklands!!
Just stick to it boys and in 2-3 years the RFC will look like geniuses. Like most overnight successes say, it took years of hard work to make it so suddenly.

I used to live across the road from Vic Park in 2010 and the tigs would train there every thursday for their own private session. I only knew this coz I rocked up with my camera and one of the staff tried to find out if I was from a media outlet as it was a closed session.
