Smith gets more discussion than our other rookies, who have twice the chance of getting elevated to the main list.

I'd love to see Hazell & Andrews really get an opportunity.

Lets talk about those that are likely to be around next year.

That's probably because Smith is now officially the new Marsh or Schell!!

Hazell is interesting. You don't notice him unless you look for him because he's very unobtrusive. If you do watch him closely though, he does everything very well, without error but without flair. He could be a quiet achiever.

Andrews will need to be around for a while. Because of his gangly leggy physique, the very earliest he could be considered would be 2006 IMO.

He was always rated as a good player even at Hawthron but his main problem was that he would always break down. If my memory serves me correctly he was listed with Hawks then had a rotten run with injuries so they delisted him and then rookie listed him. Last year was interupted with OP and they just didn't think he is up to it as far as injuries go.

Touch wood, so far he hasn't broken down so hopefully he can show what he can do and maybe that will be enough to get promoted.

Long term project who will spend 2 years on Rookie List IMHO. Has a lot to learn but has the right attitude.

I still like Parker the most out of our rookies.

Schuback, if I remember correctly was a BP and HBF in the under18 comp. I watched him play in the finals at the MCG when we got hammered by Carlton and he was definately in the backlines that day.

He actually played most of his TAC Cup footy as an onballer/half-forward flanker with occasional run at HBF. He only played a couple of games in defence. Most of his time he played as an onballer/wingman who was resting up forward and kicking a couple of goals.

Did he at least impress you??????

Yes he did. He read the play well and was a really nice long kick. I thought we did great to pick him where we did. Also lots of pace. Main thing was he knew how to read the play.

I will be very happy to see him became a regular member of the team.
