At the risk of raising the ire of one of the newest members of the Freo BF community, I thought I would give you a run-down of what I saw when I dropped into the club this morning to see what bargains the Team Store had for Christmas presents this year (not that many may i say... :( ). Imagine my surprise when I saw that virtually the whole squad was out on the ground. So I stopped for 10 minutes for a squizz. In no particular order, and just from memory, this is what I noticed:

1. Mourish, Collard and O'Brien were all there. They were away from the main group, doing some skills work with The Wiz. He was very encouraging - talking to them the whole time, patting Mourish on the back a few times, slapping hands with Collard, and mussing O'Brien's hair. As they moved off towards the gym, Mourish put his arm around O'Brien's shoulder and patted him on the chest and they both smiled and laughed. All three looked very comfortable and Brock's noggin is not as ugly up close as it appeared in that photo we all saw.

2. In another group, Haddrill, JLo and Tarrant were doing hand-ball drills. No running for them at this stage it appears.

3. Hase was just running back and forth between the goals from end to end. He looked very, very ginger; was jogging very, very slowly; and probably only lifting his feet about 2 inches off the ground. But he kept running the whole time and at least he is moving.

4. Daniel Gilmore was doing sprints on the side on his own.

5. Cookie has cut his dreadies off.

6. Benet Copping was there, so perhaps we can assume he will definitely get rookied.

Can't think of much else, as I didn't stop too long, but if you have a question, I will do my best to remember and answer it. :)

Dunno - wasn't that close. I only recognised Copping cos he has such fair skin. I don't even know if Rumble was there, although I guess we can assume he was.

Re: Training 29/11/06

Did Robert Warnock looked bulked up at all?

Yeah, I'd say he looked a lot bigger than when he arrived, but he's still pretty skinny, especially the bottom half. But then again, he did put about 6 or 7 kgs over the summer last year, so of course he's bigger than when he arrived. But he didn't stick out as being a stick figure, so that's good.

But i tell you, he does not run like someone who is 6'10". Unlike Sandi, who kind of lopes along (you know what I mean - he looks like a bloody big bugga when he runs! As does JLo to an extent), Warnock looks more like some of the guys like McPharlin, Murphy, Campbell - the ones who are around 6'3" / 6'4". He seems very agile.

Re: Training 29/11/06

I was most impressed with him in the intra-club match i went to last year. Saw him take some big pack marks and chased really hard. Skills were very good too. His running ability is awesome for someone his height.

We found a gem at pick 42.

Re: Training 29/11/06

Parker and Bellie, I assume, were not there, as they have been told not to come back till after Christmas. But there was a very large group there - all the guys I mentioned before, plus (that I can remember noticing) Pav, McPharlin, Schammer, Dodd, Mundy, Johnson, Des, Cookie, Macca, Solomon, Sandi, Warnock, Duffield, Hayden, Grover, Campbell, Webster, the Carrs, Peakey, Blackie, Thornton, Ibbotson....

Didn't notice Crowley, Murphy, Drummie, Browne, Dunn, Walker.... but I am sure they must have been there as there were heaps of guys doing skills drills, plus the blokes working separately.

Oh and I saw Schofield - he arrived at the same time I did, but don't worry - he wasn't out on the track. Probably came to collect his final paycheck... ;)

Oh your on fire IP! Nasty! He probably has an part-time player mentoring role or an off field role with the club.

Re: Training 29/11/06

Can't say I noticed much about Des, except it looks like he has a new tatt on his upper arm. Although, on second thoughts, this could have been a bulked up, sinewy muscle... ;)

Re: Training 29/11/06

I'm guessing you didn't notice Dean Kelly?

Nope, although I'm not sure I would know what he looks like anyway. Are you sure he's training with Freo?

There looked to be close to 40 guys there today. The highly esteemed elder two gents were missing, then there were the 5 hobblers, the 3 young'uns + Wiz + what looked to be about 15 pairs doing handball and kicking drills.

And Pav looked fit and healthy and a real leader out there... calling out a few "well dones" and then patting a few bums (as footy players are wont to do) when they were all called back into the middle by the coaches. :thumbsu:

Re: Training 29/11/06

Just saw on a thread on the drafts and trading board that he only flew into Perth today, so maybe he'll be joining training over the next few days. :thumbsu:

I was thinking... how many blondes did I see?

Well there was the Albino-Man Thornton, and Mourish hit the bleach bottle before arrival, Collard looks naturally blonde, as does Mundy... no other blondes - natural or otherwise - stood out. But if he was only flying over today, then that must be why I didn't pick him... :)

LOL. And one of Blacky - cos he'll be there. :thumbsu: I'll hide behind the Coke machine and take it incognito, then drive home as fast as I can and post it on here! It's a plan. :thumbsu:

Re: Training 29/11/06

Is it wise having Kelly train with us? One of the 12 teams with a selection before us may be intending to select him with their second round rookie draft pick, but may use their first round selection to pick him up since they know we will probably snap him up at 13. Best to keep your cards close to your chest IMO.

Re: Training 29/11/06

We seem to have heard that ever year since he joined the club.

hehe, love preseason hype, everyone is training the house down...

I remember Dion Woods was looking really good one year :) put on a heap of muscle

His first two/three games that year were great. Wonder when the last time he exercixed was? Running away from the cops isnt exercise either.
