TRAINING NOTES: Darcy ticks box, young guns fight for spots

Walyalup (Fremantle) hit the training track at Cockburn on Wednesday, with all eyes on Sean Darcy ahead of the club’s clash with Yartapuulti (Port Adelaide). Here’s what we saw.
READY TO RUCK AND ROLL?
Walyalup (Fremantle) ruckman Sean Darcy got through main training on Wednesday as he firms for a return against Yartapuulti (Port Adelaide) on Saturday.
Darcy missed the win over Greater Western Sydney last week after being subbed out against Collingwood the round prior with knee soreness.
Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said the club would monitor how the 26-year-old pulled up from training before making a call on his availability but the session was a positive step in his bid to play.
Darcy went head-to-head with in-form star Luke Jackson, who was dominant against the Giants as the solo ruck, and showed no signs of a lingering complaint.

But given he has only managed 27 games over the past two season due to injury, Walyalup may look to give him an extra week to recover or ease him in on lower minutes through the WAFL.
SUPER COOPER
Cooper Simpson is set to retain his spot in the side after an impressive performance against the Giants in just his second game for the year and fourth overall appearance.
Cooper Simpson has had an impressive fortnight. No![]()
Longmuir said Simpson, who has made the switch from attack to defence this season, had helped get the balance right in their back six.
“Coops has come in and played his role really well defensively against the smalls, but provides a bit more offence and a little bit more run offensively,” he said.
“He’s added to the mix, and we feel least this week that’s going to be the way we go.”
Alex Pearce and Nat Fyfe. YES![]()
Simpson played alongside Alex Pearce, Brennan Cox, Luke Ryan, Karl Worner and Jordan Clark in the 18v18 match simulation.
Defender Heath Chapman did not train due to illness but is expected to be available.

NEILY THERE
Neil Erasmus played the best of his four games this season against the Giants, earning himself a spot in the coaches’ votes.
But while the 21-year-old was impressive, Longmuir stopped short of guaranteeing he would be given a permanent run in the side ahead of the Power clash.

“I never guarantee anyone a run of games. No one in the team should feel like they’ve got a run of games,” Longmuir said.
“He (Erasmus) came in to do a job last week. We went with a bit of a different mix with the extra midfielder (and it) clearly worked well.
“He played well... he came in and played his role, and he’s desperate to keep playing. We’ll see how the team shakes up later.”
You got me Para...
**** me he’s as much fun as genital warts.
He’d get on elevator full of people on the way to a party and drop a sloppy fart.
Jesus wept
I'll take JL thanks, but then I haven't had genital warts yet.**** me he’s as much fun as genital warts.

Moose needs to keep loading up on the bone broth. Time for him to raid the butcher and fire up the slow cooker.Good morning everyone, training is on again today at Freo.
Currently in the warmup and only Hayden Young in the rehab group, he has progressed significantly in the last couple of weeks and looks pretty comfortable but still not running at 100%
No sighting of Moose or Cooper Simpson.
Hayden Young was asked by one of the watchers when Moose will return and not surprisingly said good question but I don’t know.
Brandon Walker training in the main group at the moment.
