For me , Phil Manassa in the 77 Grand Final , to see that live as a kid on the same wing , will be forever planted within me , an amazing run , selling candy on the biggest stage.pulsating moment as the crowd rode every bounce till the finality of the ball saying thru the big sticks. Amazing.Btw all time favourite goal for me

Extraordinary goal - thought my dad was gonna have a heart attack that day.Btw all time favourite goal for me
Another McGuane there with the Daicos boys would be something, huh.Not if it’s being left for the offspring of Mighty Mick Mcguane
It was two third rounders. They gave away Wright for a 4th and paid a large portion of his salary. It was a far worse deal than Witts, which is saying something given that was a terrible deal in itself. As bad as us giving them a future captain and dominant ruckman for a 4th rounder…. Nope

I tend to agree. But interestingly, our coach said on the morning of GF day that he felt the Cats were comfortably the best side and would win by 7-8 goals, while the other “experts” were running single digit margins either way. I’m not saying this means anything, but it does suggest Fly saw the Cats as the very clear benchmark.Agreed about the GF - definitely a case of deeply inferior opposition performance rather than Geelong having a vastly superior list.

There were 3 reasons he couldn't get a game: Anderson, Rowell, Miller.Bowes couldn't get a game with Gold Coast - I'd be surprised if he's in there best side
He would have been a good get for us if we hadn't had extremely poor salary cap management at the time. No, Wright was a victim of poor management. He could have easily played in tandem with King, but instead of being given the opportunity they played a bog average forward/ruck in Sam Day ahead of him.
Then they made the bizarre move of going out and recruiting Chol on exactly the same money and a longer contract after they realised they were lacking in the forward/ruck dept.
All I’m seeing here is excuses and blame shifting for what was another chapter in the Suns history of extremely poor player management.
If that's the case then here's another five reasons why he'll struggle to get a game at Geelong: Dangerfield, Guthrie, Duncan, Blicavs, AitkinsThere were 3 reasons he couldn't get a game: Anderson, Rowell, Miller.
He would have been the perfect upgrade to Cox. I was vocal about getting him as a low risk/high reward option at the time, but alas, as you said, our cap situation at the time wouldn’t allow itHe would have been a good get for us if we hadn't had extremely poor salary cap management at the time.
It's possible Geelong won't have Hawkins & Cameron for round 1.If that's the case then here's another five reasons why he'll struggle to get a game at Geelong: Dangerfield, Guthrie, Duncan, Blicavs, Aitkins
The thrust of the conversation was around round 1 and that the Cats were strong favourites - I can't see a reason for that, in fact, I'm quite bullish on the Pies and pessimistic about the Cats. My main reasoning is that there wasn't much between the two sides last year and we have recruited to fix our deficiencies whereas I can't see how the Cats have recruited to fix theirs - for what it's worth, I see the Cat's deficiencies in the Key Back, Key Forward and Ruck - the Cat's were lucky with injury last year in that their key deficiencies weren't exposed - I'd suggest that they may not have won the flag if they had sustained a retirement/injury run like ours where we lost our 3 options for fullback (Roughhead, Dean, Keane).

How long is he out for?Dean refractured his right foot at training from a knock

Maybe Macrae?
And being injured. There were 3 reasons he couldn't get a game: Anderson, Rowell, Miller.
Charlie Dean has been placed on the inactive list (foot)
That's a bummer. Time for Will Kelly to put his best foot forward (or back).Dean refractured his right foot at training from a knock
