How quickly we forget. We wouldn't have beaten the Shockers last year if that 'Explosive Beast' Jones hadn't stepped up to the plate to kick a timely goal, after Levi had done everything in his power to ensure we couldn't win.
He had a good couple of weeks during that early season winning run. Cracked in, competed, chased... then disappeared.

At the rate Levi was going late last year I'd very seriously entertain playing Jones ahead of him. Could we get less scoreboard impact out of the former Doggie? Jones wouldn't pull down Casboult-like marks, but he'd do everything else better.

Pickett as we know is a no.4 pick....and was about to break into GWS 22 when injury struck...hence big wraps and justified.
He has had several months off post surgery and his was worse than Sumners with a longer rehab time.
We are looking at rehab management of a lis franc injury......he would not have put a full load repetitively on that foot yet in terms of full sessions and game sim time and would have lost what little tank he had...
going to have to be patient.[this is why GWS let him slide]
because even if he makes the 22 say mid season from northern he will be struggling for fitness.
Yep. Pretty slim chance will see him in the seniors in the early part of the season, think half way mark is much more realistic.
Has the potential to be a massive win for us, but will need to be patient, is one of those players with the rare combo of elite pace and foot skills.
If anyone wants to see him play, pretty sure you can watch a replay of the AIS vs Collingwood 2's on Utube.
IIRC the first play of the game is him winning the first possession turning on the turbo and bursting out of the middle, pretty impressive, bigger bodies didn't seem to worry him.

I will watch him in the NBs, I will assess him, I will promote him at the appropriate time.
That's the thing, could he play deep inside 50 as a goal sneak in the ones, else does he truck around the Suburban sludge heaps as a mid??

As an aside: worst gound I ever played on.........Kilsyth.

It snows at Trentham, games get called off because players have frostbite and you can't see 35 metres across the ground. Need to call which end you kick it to and hope someone is listening and can find the pill.

Think he's coming from a fair way back, maybe starts as a forward in the 2's, can see the club taking a long term approach.
Kid is a goal kicking mid with turbo, when up and running, be interesting to see which group he trains with when he returns to the main training group.

Boekhorst has the potential to be a game winner for us... lets hope he wants that.
I can understand some not liking his game and for very good reasons.
Hard to watch him just strolling around the periphery of the action, so we either work a way to get him into the game or simply have to keep him out of it.

He is a good one to have the ball in hand though and that's what hurts about him not being that little bit hungrier than he seems to be.

Boekhorst honestly gives me the impression that he couldn't give two shits if he has a successful AFL career or not (which is fine, it's not the life for everyone).

Reckon he'd be just as happy going back to Perth and rolling around in the WAFL whilst working on his hipster game after hours.

You can sort of tell he is going to be a great player for another team post this season lol
I don't think he has the poise or skills. Not an afl player. Looks okay in space and has pace but that's it. Just a shocking recruiting decision.

Disagree regarding poise and skill. He has shown it quite a few times. Whether he get himself to the level of doing it consistently is the question, and will ultimately determine whether it was a shocking recruiting decision.

I'm 100% in his corner and hoping for the best, but if I were on the list management staff, I'd be planning for the worst.

List management had a choice last year to not renew his contract...........they gave him an extra year.
So I guess that either some of us here are wrong or the SOS and co. are wrong. Which one may it be?

OK. We did keep Buckley & Graham on also, but they were largely fillers when we couldn't exploit the drafts any further.
Boekhorst can play and he can mark. Just seems to have gone too koala for my liking. Maybe it's just his nature....I don't know.

Can't see it but hope you're right. I've seen him in space with time absolutely drill some passes and then make 3-4 basic mistakes. Under pressure really struggles.
