I said to Doc last year "Weitering looks like he's as mature as a 40yo. Is he really like that"?

Doc answers back "Haha, yeah. 40? Try older".

So seems he has made the same impression on the players as the fans.
probably doesnt get invited out with the boys much. would be pretty boring bloke to hang with

You just don't know.

He may say little but have something to say, as opposed to someone that uses a lot of words and says nothing.
I know which I'd rather 'hang with' and most intelligent women, would also.

Takes all sorts to win a flag, I can see wieterings "even tempered" personality standing up in the clutch moments of a big game.

Where someone like C Curnow could turn it on with an exciting purple patch.

Reckon Doc should be our next captain though. Seems right in the middle personality wise, plus I don't like mids as captains as it's a big ask to beat a tight tag, win the ball and lead the team.

Couldn't agree more. Doc it is.

Murph finally grows in to the role and after two great years hands it over to doc

I never liked Murph as captain (even though he went to Whitefriars and we are better people).

I rate him very highly, but as an undersized mid it's pretty rough to have someone physically bigger than you like a Crowley just blocking your path and holding you behind play all day, then you have to win the ball, get to every contest and be using your voice and directing youngsters, it's just too much. Let Murph worry about being Murph and do what he does.

You make someone like simmo captain, he can't be tagged (if he was he could just man up someone else), he's courageous, a kick behind the play he can shape the team and put players in position etc.

That's just my opinion from outside the club.

Doc could be our Luke Hodge

Cripps speaks.

Nice words for SPS & Fisher.
Good bump-up for Dylan, also.
Great to hear the undertone of excitment and exuberance especially from the younger players.
Bolton & Silvagni are gathering a good mix of talented youth and experience.
Additions of Palmer & A Silvagni and Smedt will help team development. Let's get started have't had this sort of expectations for many years.

Great to see the lad talking confidently in front of the camera. Way ahead of Murphy in younger days. Probably a bit of off season media training and its paying dividends. Big confidence booster for him to be even compared to Fyffe in a swap scenario. Well done Pat and great to see him doing the right thing by supporters and squashing the rumours flat
