I've got high hopes(ridiculously high) Marchbank can be our Rance & JGM our lock down. JGM has got all the physical attributes just needs to learn the game. Its bloody exciting either way, hopefully these kids get a clean run.
I'm unconvinced JGM will make the grade.

Saw plenty of him in the twos this year and was rarely impressed.

I'm assuming people are debating who is the best forward option for the Northern Blues? Even then I'm not sure Jones or Casboult are good enough. Certainly not up for AFL level. Sooner we move on the better as they will not be around in 2018
We were very limited last year concerning these two...neither were mobile on the lead and Jones lack of defensive pressure and run has been noted.Casboult seems to also get very negative and at times does nothing is his aura of negativity including his goal work.
Then we saw Jack and earlier Charlie on the scene and began to play in a contemporary manner covering a lot of ground, leading and kicking some goals....next year will be another big clean out.
Bring on Harry we need to move on.....zzzzz

Not sure what Bolton will do but must be tempted to develop Marchbank Weitering Plowman G-Mac Macreadie etc together as a group
expecting a good season from plowman..with a preseason this year,he ran out of steam in a few games towards the end of the season 2016 as did a few of the new guys.
Weitering will be pivotal for us ..he already is one of out most important players...he is very genuine for us
Marchbank should be pretty good and another key player..seems to like to work hard and thats good.
Would be nice if Macreadie would develope well because he seems to indicate another quality player....
JGM has some followers and will need to produce some solid stats at northern this season to verify that...certainly he has a good frame and height.

I still reckon our expectations are low. Kruezer was okay but nothing great and I can't see him getting better. Phillips has shown signs but needs to improve.

Both need to improve a lot to show they are the answer in the future. Whatever happens just play one. Major liability having both out on the field
I think Kruzer was and still is on injury management from the bad foot he had for a few years, remember he was always injured etc...he has to wear orthotics etc which take a bit out of the run etc...so he has notched back a peg or two a while ago...but is maintaining that level at Afl consistently.he is pretty good and is surviving .He never was a huge ball winner at the bounce....but is a bull when it comes to roving the ball..he can do it.......in a different set up this year he may do a lot more,he loves confidence and would suit a strong Carlton ream.

FORWARDS / RUCKS
One ruckman and it has to be Kreuzer or Phillips....and will come down to who take more marks around the ground....Phillips in front here
Tall Forwards.....they are going to play Harry Mac every game......young SOS and Charlie Curnow will be leading contenders for second and third tall
If we are going to improve....then NO Casboult.....No Liam Jones....No Kreuzer played as a forward....and NO Jaksch

Not sure this is fair on the bloke.

He's a key tall, not a small defensive forward. That doesn't mean he gets a free pass from chasing and tackling, but I think given his role and size he actually does a decent amount of it. Averaged more than 2 tackles a game, and there were a number of times he could be seen running half the length of the ground trying to catch an opponent on a wing.

Without wanting to pot Levi, his defensive work and efforts are well behind what we've seen from Jones. Neither of them are built for it, but Liam goes when it's his turn.

I'm stunned at some of the comparisons being made here (re Jones v Casboult). It's like you're all seeing something in a guy who averages 3 marks a game.....

In any case taking the guidance on board of this being a training thread and will cease & desist, except if a thread called 'Jones v Casboult - most likely player to be on the 2018 playing list' is created.

We can only compare what we've got, Shambo.

Once we get some new footage of H-Mac(s), Charlie, SOSOS etc. we can get ourselves all hot and bothered over them.

Fair enough Blue Balls. No doubt the youngsters provide a lot of promise and that's where the attention lies.

There are just clear reasons why one player gets more games than others, and hypothetical, philosophical what-ifs aren't really relevant.

At the end of the day as I say which of them is more likely to be on the 2018 roster.... ummm.... neither..... perhaps one as back-up only on not much $.

SO TRAINING. Hanging out for some pics.
